I had a very comforting lunch at 「パオ愛宕店」, where lunch starts at 800円, considerably better value than the usual prices in this area. 「パオ愛宕店」 is in 「日立愛宕別館B1」, directly opposite Toranomon Hills. There is a sign at the entrance to the stairs leading downstairs, but normally you would miss it. Upon entering, I found a versatile seating arrangement: 4 tables for 4, 1 table for 2, and 5 individual seats. At 11:30, more than half were occupied, which was very promising. Although the menu starts at 800円, since this was my first visit, I ordered the A lunch sitting at the very top of the lunch menu: the black pepper pan-fried dumplings + stir-fried shrimp and pea shoots set, 1,200円 (August 2025). The person who appeared to be the head chef was both taking orders and cooking, moving very energetically between the dining area and kitchen. Furthermore, when rice is included, you can choose either white rice or takana fried rice, so I chose takana fried rice. The stir-fried pea shoots, takana fried rice, and soup arrived first. The takana fried rice was very moist, closer in my mind to steamed takana sticky rice than fried rice, but that actually made it just right for focusing on the side dishes. The pea shoots were extremely crisp and piled high, a welcome arrangement that lets you proudly say, “I really ate my pea shoots today!!” The main dumplings arrived later, and when I tried them, “D-delicious!” The intensely meaty filling made them outstanding. There were only 3, probably because it was lunch, and they were so delicious that this felt regrettable. Then the lightly seasoned soup brought everything together into a gentle, comforting set meal. The interior is also reasonably spacious, and the individual seats are completely separated from their neighbors, making this a rare place in Toranomon where you can eat at a relaxed, unhurried pace. In this area, where the location means prices often exceed 1,000円 or even 1,500円, being able to enjoy this quality with most dishes priced at 1,000円 is a real delight. It may not suit visitors looking for a lunch that feels particularly characteristic of Toranomon, but for people working in the Toranomon area who want lunch for no more than 1,000円, a leisurely lunch break, and especially those dining alone, I recommend 「パオ愛宕店」.
View on GoogleIt was incredibly delicious!! I love this place. It's a wonderfully good restaurant. It's in a building basement and a little hard to spot at first, but it's a hidden gem. For lunch I ordered the black pepper dumpling set with stir-fried pea shoots and shrimp. The dumplings had a strong pepper kick and were packed full of meat, so even 3 were plenty satisfying. They're delicious without adding anything. They have plenty of flavor. The stir-fried pea shoots were also seasoned so well that I couldn't stop eating them. Being able to switch the rice to fried rice is great too, and that fried rice is incredibly tasty with the tanginess of takana. The owner was pleasant, and you could feel the love and care put into the cooking. A place I'd like to visit again.
View on GoogleCame in around 13:30 on Thursday. There was one elderly woman already there. The food arrived fairly quickly after I ordered. The taste was so-so. Neither good nor bad, but the takana fried rice was delicious. Before long, the owner and waitress started eating lunch, and it felt like I had to hurry up and leave! The owner was an older man who looked difficult to please, and the waitress was a young woman. I could really sense how careful she was around him, so I left immediately after eating. A second visit? Maybe not.
View on GoogleVisited at 13:30 on a weekday There was only 1 group of 6 who had finished eating, so lunch service already seemed to be winding down The noodles had run out too, so I chose the mapo tofu lunch A generous portion of mapo tofu with plenty of minced meat, takana fried rice packed with ingredients, and egg soup also full of ingredients. A more lavish lunch than expected, very satisfying for exactly 1000円
View on GoogleIt's near Toranomon Hills, in a building basement. It's run by a friendly owner whose wife is Taiwanese. The Taiwanese food had a somehow nostalgic taste. I enjoyed hearing about 万寿, the lovely cat his daughter keeps ❤ I'd like to visit again ✨✨ The black pepper dumplings were delicious.
