Homely food and warm staffs. Tan-men & Chahan was good. Time to time I go there.

A Chinese restaurant whose nearest station is Tameike-sanno. My drinking friend is pretty much a regular, so I often visit. They have reasonably priced lunches, and apparently banquet courses in the evening too. Basically, everything is delicious. In particular, please try the mapo tofu and sesame balls at least once. The youthful lady who runs it is also a very nice person and always takes good care of us. I’ll visit again!

I had the nira liver teishoku for 1000円 at lunch, and it was delicious. Many people around me were ordering it too, so I could tell it was a popular dish. It gets crowded at lunchtime, but solo diners sometimes share tables in the back, so turnover is quick. The staff were also kind and helpful.

【A neighborhood Chinese lunch starring seafood gomoku yakisoba】 The seafood gomoku yakisoba was incredibly delicious. The thick sauce with shrimp and vegetables was just right, and I enjoyed it to the last bite without getting tired of it. The soft-shell crab karaage was fragrant and savory too—definitely the right choice to order. The fried eggplant also had a deeply satisfying flavor that stayed with me (though I’m not sure whether it was karaage or tempura). The place fills up in no time at lunch, so I recommend going early. 【Seafood yakisoba lunch worth lining up for】 The seafood gomoku yakisoba was seriously good—nice, savory sauce and plenty of shrimp and veggies. I also tried the soft-shell crab (fried) and it was crisp and flavorful without feeling heavy. The fried eggplant side was a standout too (can’t remember if it was karaage or tempura style, but it was great). This place fills up fast at lunchtime, so going a bit early is the move. 【Seafood yakisoba, perfect for lunch】 The seafood “gomoku” yakisoba was really delicious, with a well-balanced sauce and plenty of vegetables and shrimp. The fried soft-shell crab was crispy and super tasty; I’d order it again without hesitation. The fried eggplant was excellent too (I can’t remember whether it was more karaage or tempura style). It fills up very quickly at lunchtime, so it’s better to arrive a little early.

July 2025 The lunch special was muk shu pork, and I was able to come when there were no smokers, so I visited for the first time in 3 years. Rice refills now cost extra, and I feel like the portions of the main dishes have shrunk too. The seasoning is strong, which suits my taste. “Maruya” also started charging extra for large rice portions, so I guess price increases everywhere are unavoidable? Maybe I’ll go occasionally if I can visit when there are no smokers? July 2022 Prices went up by ¥100, with the basic price now ¥950 Maybe I won’t go anymore... I think I’ll go more often for Maruya’s ¥700 tonkatsu. May 2022 update I go about 2〜3 times a month. I try to go during the weeks when they have nira liver and muk shu pork. I like the pork, wood ear mushroom, and egg stir-fry, so I go often. You can get rice refills, and the taste is decent. Update. Maybe the shrimp and egg stir-fry costs a lot to make, because the portion wasn’t large. Update I usually go before 12, so there aren’t any smokers, but when I went around 14, 90% were smokers. It had been about 10 years since I last ate amid cigarette smoke. If you don’t choose the time carefully, the smoke makes the food taste bad.
