Was at Shinagawa station to take the bullet train and had some time for lunch. This was the only place that caught my eye at the train station as the other food were non japanese and I didn't feel like having sushi. The portion was much bigger than it appeared in the photos. Taste was decent but there were a lot of scales on the fish and I had difficulty peeling the skin back with just chopsticks. Really enjoyed the jyuyongdai sake that was available for ordering.

We were attracted by special dishes on the menu outside (horsemeat, pufferfish) but unfortunately they were non available that day. So we ordered 4 lunch sets (beef & tempura, sashimi & tempura, udon & tempura, soba & tempura) that were very good and gave us the opportunity to try different Japanese dishes.

Ordered the aqua pazza style fish. The quality of the fish is no good, it’s dry and not fresh. The part served is very bonny, and the quantity is lesser than what it appears to be on photo. Just for info, I asked for hot water, I was told it would be charged, that’s fine, but who would expect they would charge for refill, they actually charged plain hot water per cup. So I was charged 400yen for two small-cup servings of hot water. Besides, they also charged “cover charge” (whatever it means) of 550yen. This is the worst dining experience I’ve in Japan.

Food choice is limited during lunch hours. If you would like more choices, come in after 4.30pm. All in all, service are great, food is fantastic and atmosphere is nice. Just feel a little weird with the chopin music playing in the background while eating traditional Japanese meals. 😄

Food is pricey but delicious. Choices are limited with meat and rice bowl. Overall, it deserves a chance. When we couldn’t finish the food they packed it kindly for us and were very polite and friendly. Gave us the special seats
