Absolutely sensational! Run by two kind ladies, the ramen was delicious and made right in front of you. A language barrier didn’t stop us from connecting with them and the restaurant. The egg and meat was delicious and the wontons are stuffed full and delicious. Thank you for a wonderful meal!

Visited Menya Oyayubi for a weekday lunch—no wait around 12:30. Ordering is by ticket machine (note: new banknotes not accepted). Cashless works too, but with a ¥50 fee. Tried the shop’s “recommended” Shio Sansho Wonton Ramen (¥1,100). Light and gentle salt broth, with just a hint of sansho pepper. Thin noodles were smooth and easy to slurp. The highlights were the toppings: a soft-boiled egg, three slices of tender chashu, and especially the shrimp wontons—plump, juicy, and full of flavor. Easily the star of the bowl. A little oily for my taste, but overall a delicious and satisfying ramen. Highly recommended for shio ramen fans and anyone who loves shrimp wontons!

Menya Oyayubi is one of those local ramen spots that really stands out once you try it. The wontons are incredible—packed with juicy pork and shrimp, and much more filling than you’d expect. What surprised me most was the broth. It’s very clean and light, but still full of deep umami flavor. It’s a nice change from heavier ramen styles. The shop itself is simple and quiet, mostly counter seating, and it feels like a true neighborhood place. Ordering is done through a ticket machine, so it’s manageable even without Japanese. Just note that it’s cash only. Overall, a great spot if you want something authentic and a bit off the tourist path. Want to explore more great spots in Kyoto? April 2024. Restaurant that serves fresh noodles and generous amount of dumpling (shrimp and/or meat). The broth is light and fragrant. We enjoyed our meal, the shrimp dumpling was very juicy and plump. I had more difficulty to enjoy the one with the meat which was more strong for our taste. Overall we enjoyed the lunch and the service is very welcoming. Highly recommend, specially for the price point, you eat very well!

Came here shortly after they opened for the evening (6 pm) and there was a few patrons jn the place. It is a cash only restaurant with one of those machines where you insert the money and you get a ticket of what you ordered. The place holds about a dozen people and there was just one petit lady making our food. As others have said, the chasu was excellent. The shrimp dumplings was a nice bonus. The noodles were perfect for me. I'm not positive if these were made in house or not. Most of the bowls are around 1100 yen and the extras are 150 to 200 yen. I marked them down for atmosphere as below the ac unit in the restaurant, there is a slow drip. You can see how they tried to put a towel over it, but it is a little lanky. My daughter had to adjust her seat a bit so the water wouldn't drip on her.
