Many gluten free menu items! English speaking staff! Close to several stations! Highly recommend! Literally everything we ordered was delicious, and in addition to classics like chicken skewers, and ochazuke rice porridge, they have menu items that are harder to come by in big chains. They have the best gizzard I’ve ever had in Japan. I usually stay away from organ meat, but we tried some and I have to say, all of us, even the usual non-fans loved it. It was so well seasoned and flavorful and very hard to distinguish the texture from “regular” meat. I’ve been converted into an esophagus lover. It tasted like crispy bacon. It was incredible. I don’t drink alcohol very often and they offer non-alcoholic plum wine in addition to the standard non-alcoholic menu which makes it really fun and easier to get into the Japanese izakaya bar experience.
View on GoogleHad great experience visiting over the weekend for dinner. They specialize in a variety of Japanese style chicken dishes such as fried chicken, skewers etc.. The restaurant is open for takeout and a small bar area for seated dining. It opened last October, and the interior is really clean and has a nice aesthetic, and isn't smoky like some of these places can be (i.e. my clothes do not smell like smoke or friend food despite being there for hours!) My group ordered the fried chicken, which comes as a half chicken and was incredibly delicious, as well as organ meat (seriously trust me it was so good here - even friends in the group who normally avoid this loved it here!), other side chicken dishes, as well yakitori skewers, onigiri rice balls, tomato and cabbage side dishes, ochazuke. For drinks we had a number of varieties of Japanese nihonsu sake (multiple options to suit various tastes), umeshu, wine, and non-alcoholic beverages. Everyone agreed everything was so delicious! Additionally, I have to eat and drink strictly gluten free and get very ill if I do not, and I was able to safely eat here after communicating my dietary needs. The staff are very kind and accommodating, and there is also a staff member who speaks perfect English, which makes it easy to ask for recommendations, communicate dietary restrictions, and also ask questions about things I hadn't seen before on the menu. Because they do not serve karaage (fried breaded chicken) here, wheat containing things don't go into the fryer, so even I was able to eat fried foods which is not something I can usually do in Japan! So good! Just avoid dashi (stock) and dare (seasoning for chicken skewers) and opt for salt instead, and 100% safe! It is located not too far from Mita Station, so it is easy access from the Mita Line or within ten minutes walk from Tamachi Station on the JR Yamanote Line. 10/10 recommend and will definitely be back.
View on GoogleThis is a must-visit in Tokyo. Hina-dori, or young chicken, is flash fried making it incredibly tasty. The yakitori is also incredible, and all varieties are worth trying. Tori-wasa is a great option if you want to try chicken sashimi. Vegetable sides and other izakaya classics like potato salad are available. Overall, it’s the best chicken experience you can have in Japan. English menus are available and staff are super friendly. Also a lovely range of take out bento.
View on GooglePhenomenal spot, no printed English menu but that's cool - it's more authentically Japanese. That said there is English speaking staff so it made it easy for us communicate when my limited Japanese ran out. Food was delicious, the fried chicken (it's not breaded so it's not heavy) was juicy, seasoned well and very flavourful. The yakitori chicken skewers had a great sauce and was also very satisfying. I asked the chef to give me a couple skewers of his choice - surprise me I asked - and he gave me chicken hearts and chicken liver skewer. It was also delicious and like other reviews have said, didn't have a strong offal taste. Very well seasoned and accompanied with sauce and/or some mustard. Would absolutely come again when I'm back in Tokyo!
View on GoogleThis place is really great. They specialize in non-breaded fried chicken and grilled chicken skewers. We ordered what was basically half a chicken fried as-is, and it was some of the best chicken I’ve had. There’s also an excellent selection of delicious Japanese sake, if that’s your thing. But the most surprising thing for me was how much I enjoyed some of the less common chicken bits. I have always disliked any sort of innards or odd chicken parts, but the gizzard and esophagus were truly delectable! The service here is great too, and some of the staff speak English, so no worries if you don’t speak Japanese. Within walking distance of Mita, Tamachi, and Hamamatsucho Stations, this restaurant is also close to a number of tourist locations as well, like Tokyo Tower and Shiba Park. I don’t think I have a negative thing to say about this place. Highly recommended!
