This is a cozy spot with a menu geared towards locals, so don't expect the most popular dishes. Instead, you'll find a wonderful variety of very fresh, select fish from different regions of Japan, beautifully presented. Despite its central location, there's no English menu. However, it's an excellent option if you want to try something different. It was quite busy during dinner. The staff is very attentive but at times they seemed overwhelmed. You have to enter the building and go up one floor to find the entrance to this izakaya.
View on Google【Flavors of the Seto Inland Sea, 香り姫】 Tucked away on the second floor near Shinbashi Station, Kaorihime initially had me wondering if I’d wandered into a tourist information center instead of a restaurant—thanks to the bright Setonaikai map greeting me from the elevator. But once inside, the restaurant’s focus on showcasing Setonaikai’s regional specialties made the detour feel worthwhile. The ambiance was charming, if a bit overshadowed by the sense of a tourist trap at first glance. Seated at the counter with a friend, I enjoyed a leisurely evening sampling the best of the local catch: sashimi, asparagus and whitebait, and a platter of regional ham. Each dish spoke of the area’s culinary pride—fresh, straightforward, and unpretentious—but I couldn’t help noticing the price felt a touch high for the portion sizes and quality. I appreciated the thoughtful inclusion of local beers from Shikoku—perfect companions to the clean, briny flavors of the Setonaikai dishes. Kaorihime captures the essence of Setonaikai’s bounty in a relaxed setting that makes it worth a visit, especially for those seeking regional flavors near Shinbashi. 【Features】 🚃 3 minutes walk from Shinbashi Station 🍽️ Order: sashimi, asparagus and shirazu, local ham 💰 Payment: ✅Cash and Credit Card 🔙 Would I visit again? ➖Unlikely
View on GoogleThis restaurant is serving typical dishes from the Setonaikai, Kagawa and Ehime area. I really enjoyed the fish tempura, steak and udon. Very good place for a casual dinner with friends and family.
View on GoogleMy regular Japan visit since it was introduced to me in 2004. Still consistent, friendly and well priced. No tourist, no English menu. Great selection of sakes.
View on GoogleIn Tokyo we can barely eat such good quality Sanuki UDON. You can try 'real' soy sauce here.
