Shibaura, Minato-ku. A kissaten (coffee shop) with a strong Showa-era feel. The storefront is well-worn too, so it looks like it's been running for quite a long time. It closes shortly after midday and is closed on weekends, so getting in is fairly difficult. However, since smoking is allowed, it's very busy at lunchtime. Whether you can get in depends on luck and timing. The set menus are around 1000 yen and come with coffee or tea, so I think they're a good deal by this area's standards.
View on GoogleThey turned down my request for a large katsu curry. Since I haven't seen the actual dish, I can't really say, but I'll try again. The large Japanese-style pasta [soy sauce base] was pretty good, but I'd like the flavor to be a bit stronger! The shop is run by two people: a friendly lady and an old man whose voice barely comes out. You can smoke, and lunch comes as a set where you can choose coffee or tea.
View on GoogleA place I recommend for smokers. Eat lunch quietly, then have a smoke while drinking your after-meal coffee. You can fully enjoy a Showa-era feel you can't get at places these days. It's perfect for when you want to spend a relaxed time while smoking.
View on GoogleA coffee shop run by an elderly couple. The fried dishes are all frozen items fried and served for lunch. Smoking is OK and coffee is included, so it's not tasty, but it's good value for money.
