This was my first time eating okonomiyaki, and I fear I may have set the bar too high by eating at this restaurant, because it was incredible. きじさあんてかん (Santekan) is a little restaurant located in the lowest level of the Ark building, and is a little bit hard to get to. Google maps managed to get me there all the way from Roppongi station, but it was quite an adventure. I made a reservation for this place on tabelog and was happy to find that we were seated at the bar in front of the cooks - a fun experience to see them cook our food in real time! We ordered one okonomiyaki each, I ordered the beef tendon, and wife ordered pork & cheese. Both were amazing, we split each in half. Texture and flavor were awesome and the sauce on top of the beef tendon one was super umami. Atmosphere was good in the restaurant, and while it wasn't too crowded (we went on na Saturday night at 6:30) I presume it could get packed easily. The chef is very passionate and attentive, and I appreciated watching him cook. Would go again 10/10

① Restaurant Features An okonomiyaki restaurant located in the basement of Ark Hills. You can enjoy the chef's freshly cooked dishes while warming them on your table's hot plate. ② Food Review ◎ Pork and Oyster Okonomiyaki The okonomiyaki batter is pleasantly fluffy. Though it looks substantial, the light texture makes it easy to finish. The umami from both the oysters and pork shines through beautifully. ◎ Modern-style Okonomiyaki Stir-fried yakisoba noodles in dashi broth, wrapped in a thin batter. The seafood flavor is delicious.

Very disappointed after finally making it to this place. The experience was really frustrating. The service was extremely poor. I don’t want to be too harsh, but the foreign staff member’s skills - both working ability and language - were too limited to work as restaurant staff. He couldn’t answer any of our questions, even basic ones like the differences between the signature Okonomiyaki and the original version. He just deflected every question we asked, which was really frustrating. What made it worse was that other staff nearby never stepped in to help him or came over to answer our questions instead. Such poor service from the entire team. We couldn’t enjoy our meal at all because of this experience. We may not come back. No point in visiting if the service is this lacking.

We found きじ さんて寛 inside the Ark Hills South Tower アークヒルズ サウスタワー while we were looking for a place for lunch. We'd been craving for some okonomiyaki and yakisoba since we got to Japan so this turned out to be perfect for us. We ordered the squid and pork okonomiyaki and the classic pork yakisoba with shrimp. Both came with delicate bonito flakes that danced on the surface. You order by going to their website and they had really good friendly service (they spoke English too). Food was very good. Make sure you look up and see the ceiling covered in hanging metal spatulas (like the mini spatulas that you use at your grill). This was one of our fav meals during our trip.

It’s an Okonimitaki (Western Japanese savory pancake) restaurant in front of the Roppongi-Icchome station. They serve Osaka-style okonomiyaki which is good, and also have their original version called Kiji-yaki (more egg and noodles). I liked both! Stuffs were friendly and good food for the price.
