Founded in 1976. Smoking allowed at all seats. I'm a non-smoker but visited anyway. Visited on a Monday around 18:35. Sat at a table of my choice. <Set menu> ・Mille crêpe ・Coffee (HOT) Total 1,000 yen The place smells a little of smoke. Maybe because there were few customers, it wasn't bad. After a while I got used to it. Lots of seats and spacious, feels open ◎. A calm space with a Showa-era feel. The tables and chairs are nice too. Arrived in about 5 minutes. The mille crêpe is milky. It's light, so it goes down easily. The unique texture is ◎ too. The coffee is mildly bitter. Light and easy to drink. The acidity grows toward the end. By the way, the mille crêpe sold out with my order. Seems to be a popular sweet. Customers nearby were laughing and saying, 'Smokers actually don't like smoke, do they.' Not sure if it's true, but I'll keep it in mind. Savored it slowly and left. A café where you can feel the history. Thank you for the meal.

1 minute walk from Shimbashi Station. I visited 'Cattleya,' a Showa-retro classic café on the 3rd floor of the New Shimbashi Building. ◇Menu ・Coffee 650 yen *Prices include tax Cattleya is a long-established shop founded in 1976. The interior is relatively spacious with 90 seats, and you can enjoy the retro atmosphere of an old-fashioned classic café. There's also a grand piano, which adds to the charm. With the coffee I ordered this time, they provide sugar and milk. A nice point is that they come in containers you can use as much as you like, not small single-use ones. Especially recommended for those who love café-hopping in Shimbashi or want to soak in a Showa-retro atmosphere.

Lounge Cattleya, founded in 1976, on the 3rd floor of the New Shimbashi Building. A famous spot known among smoking enthusiasts. You can smoke while seated🚬, paper cigarettes OK. A grand piano🎹 that perfectly fits the word 'lounge' sits enthroned in the center, and I found myself imagining: is there piano playing? Did someone used to sing here? The staff are three grandpas with a pro vibe, like they've worked here since the founding. Their work is the very definition of seasoned; the service never irritates you, and it's so good you can say thank you with a smile. Sat on a sofa seat and ordered the Mocha Mattari. It was nel drip😘 The cup & saucer are gold-rimmed Noritake, and refills are a ridiculously cheap 200 yen‼️ And above all, the New Shimbashi Building's Fibonacci-pattern windows stretch across the entire back wall😘 I want to sit by the window. Lounge Cattleya is the best.

I came to Tokyo on a trip and stayed at a hotel in Shimbashi. My first time in Shimbashi since elementary school, decades ago! Totally an Urashima Taro situation (^_^;) Just a short walk from the Karasuma exit, a building I seemed to remember from long, long ago jumped into view! New Shimbashi Building, it said. As if pulled in, I went inside and wandered around—I must have come here as a kid! This atmosphere, no doubt about it. Then I took the escalator up to the third floor and found a café with such a retro atmosphere. The sign said 'Cattleya.' I walked past the front two or three times, but I just couldn't stop thinking about it and turned back! This atmosphere looks really good! If I had to compare it, it's like a place where the mafia guys from the movie 'Goodfellas' would hang out! So much character. I got pulled right inside! This atmosphere is irresistible! The best! I looked at the menu and ordered an iced coffee without hesitation! Soon the iced coffee arrived, and drinking it while soaking in this atmosphere—delicious, absolutely the best! Looking around, some people were smoking, their smoke curling in the air! The background music sounds like American music from the '70s–'80s! This attention to detail is wonderful too. Soaking in the mood, I finished my iced coffee and left. A café that preserves the atmosphere of the Showa era (old America) so well—that's 'Cattleya.' Next time I travel to Tokyo, I definitely want to come back and drink up another iced coffee!!
