Kariz
カリーズ is a cafe and coffee shop in Minami-Azabu. Inside, you can enjoy coffee in a calm atmosphere while viewing groundwater through glass, a rarity in the city center. The white-based, resort-style interior incorporates many houseplants, offering visitors a soothing time. Near Azabu-Juban, it is a space to relax and forget the bustle of central Tokyo. Spend a leisurely time at Azabu's tucked-away cafe, “カリーズ.”

Very peaceful place for a nice cup of coffee and dessert. Calm place built over a 400 year old well. The water is used for the very nice coffee and tea. Owner is sweet and speaks English quite well.

View on GoogleI am just now getting the chance to write this review after returning from my trip to Tokyo. This cafe was amazing! The owner Hisako is so welcoming and kind. I stumbled upon this place while on a solo day exploring the city and I am so glad I did. I really enjoyed our conversation and she is such a beautiful person inside and out. Please support her business! I will definitely be returning next time I am in Tokyo. After returning from my trip to Tokyo, I finally got a chance to write this review. This cafe was wonderful! View on GoogleVisited in the afternoon on 2024年9月15日 A coffee shop in Sendai-sakashita, Azabu, Minato-ku. That day I went there on a shared rental bike from Shiba Park. It was closed the last time I came to Azabu, and this time nobody answered when I called, so I wondered if it was closed again? When I got to the front, there was a banner out, so I figured maybe it was open? I peeked inside and there were no customers and the lighting was dim, but looking closely, I spotted an elderly lady in the kitchen, so I went in. Now, she's hard of hearing, Carlos talks fast, and she was wearing a mask and speaking quietly, so conversation was a bit of a struggle💦 I ordered coffee brewed with well water and lemon cake, and they were really delicious. The standout feature is definitely the well beneath the floor. Part of the floor is glass, and through it you can see the underground well with its big concrete frame. According to the elderly lady, 14 years ago, water appeared when they dug into the ground to construct the building, so they made a well. There's a large old map of Azabu inside, and she explained in detail how this area used to be the Date family's residence and so on. There's also a water dispenser where you can get well water, so I filled a plastic bottle and took it home. Apparently they also hold rakugo performances and live music here, so it felt like a salon for getting together.
View on GoogleThis cafe is located on Sendai-zaka. The coffee made with filtered groundwater from the site of the Date family's former secondary residence is exceptional.
