The hamburger steak comes on a sizzling iron plate with pasta and freshly fried potatoes. I've walked past this place many times too, but finally visited for the first time. The lunch menu is mostly hamburger steak items, but I figured the tonjiru and roast pork bowl set, displayed across an entire laminated sheet, must be their top pick, so I ordered it. The roast pork bowl and big tonjiru packed snugly onto the tray whetted my appetite, and eating the rice well-coated in sauce together with the lightly seasoned roast pork gave just the right balance of flavor. I kept eating and eating. There are a few places in Shimbashi with good tonjiru, but the tonjiru here was a bit light, maybe because I came in early. While thinking it'd be nice if the soup were a bit richer, I decided to come back later in the day next time for the hamburger steak menu.

Visited for a weekday lunch. Enjoyed the roast pork bowl and tonjiru set meal for 1200 yen and a hot coffee for 250 yen. The price is a bit high, but the taste justifies it. There are other lunch options too, so I'd like to come back. However, smoking is allowed, so be aware of that. Came back and ordered the tonjiru set meal plus hot coffee for 1050 yen. The tonjiru was packed with ingredients, and the sides were carefully made too—very delicious.

A place calling itself a Cafe&bar in the basement restaurant arcade of the chaotic New Shimbashi Building. Lunch is quite extensive, with various hamburger steak set meals at 1,000 yen, and the hearty tonjiru set meal at just 800 yen—unbeatable value these days. The downside is that smoking is allowed even at lunch. It's probably heaven for smokers, but for non-smokers that alone rules it out. Still, the hamburger steak is tasty and it even comes with tonjiru, so it's hard to write off.

In the 'New Shimbashi Building B1,' the very embodiment of Shimbashi's chaos, there's a clean Cafe＆Bar that doesn't fit the chaos at all! At 'Ikuto' I had a delicious 'Stewed Hamburger Steak Lunch 850 yen (July 2021) & tamagoyaki topping 50 yen.' The B1 floor of the New Shimbashi Building is utterly chaotic, but suddenly a clean place appears in the middle of it: 'Ikuto.' The exterior isn't New Shimbashi Building quality—in the opposite sense—and the interior is stylish with a calm atmosphere, so even though you're supposed to be in the New Shimbashi Building, it feels like another world. I ordered the 'Stewed Hamburger Steak' from the lunch menu with a fried egg topping. The salad and soup were served right away, and the soup had a gentle flavor—delicious. The salad also had a nice tang, perfect for this hot season. Then the hamburger steak: so tender it falls apart when you poke it with a fork, and the demi sauce also had a gentle, delicious flavor. Overall the flavors are gentle, so I don't think it'll suit people who like strong flavors or a very meaty taste, but it's perfect for those who like light flavors. By the way, rice refills are apparently available, so I think even men can eat until they're full.
