Nice local spot for tonkatsu. My wife and I are from Australia and is somewhere that tourists would not visit as it is a small hideaway kind of restaurant. The owner/chef was friendly and you could see how much attention he put into his cooking. Very friendly too and definitely a more authentic eating spot!

View on GoogleShogayaki & korokke set meal 1050円, large serving of rice 50円. I visited 「とんかつ 穂久斗」 in Daimon. The interior has a calm, old-fashioned feel that is somehow comforting. It's easy to see why office workers line up here. This time, I ordered the appealing combination of 「shogayaki & korokke」 with a large serving of rice. First, the shogayaki. They use thinly sliced pork loin, and the sauce coats it extremely well. Typical of a neighborhood tonkatsu shop, it has bold, punchy seasoning with a strong soy sauce flavor. The sharp ginger and savory pork fill your mouth. This really makes the white rice disappear at an incredible speed. And, to my delight, the korokke in the set is 「cream korokke」. When you break through the crispy coating with your chopsticks, smooth, gooey cream flows out. It has a rich yet gentle depth, creating a wonderfully balanced combination with the strongly seasoned shogayaki. In a somewhat nostalgic atmosphere, I enjoyed generous helpings of high-quality dishes until I was full. It was a thoroughly satisfying set lunch.
View on Google【At a Japanese-style Western restaurant…】 This tonkatsu shop is next to ポカラカリー, which I've visited several times, and it had always caught my attention. I went for lunch♪ That day I arrived after 12, prepared for a fierce lunchtime battle. As expected, the restaurant stayed almost full, but I got in after a short wait. Lucky(^^) Since it was my first visit, I thought I'd get the classic tonkatsu, but a sudden craving for shogayaki hit me, and I ended up ordering 「shogayaki and korokke」. The shogayaki meat was a little firm, but the seasoning really packed a punch. The korokke is filled with cream rather than potatoes. It was quite tasty! Both the rice and the side dishes seemed modest in portion, but the flavors felt like something you can't get at home. I think it's a good spot for an everyday lunch of Japanese-style Western food♫
View on GoogleAn old-fashioned set-meal shop in a back alley. I had the shogayaki set meal for 850円. It's strongly seasoned, which may suit people who like that, but personally I was worried about the salt content. For better or worse, it feels like a neighborhood set-meal shop. I think it's good for a bit of nostalgia, but not somewhere I'd go out of my way to visit. It fills up as soon as it opens, so I recommend going early if you plan to visit.
