Visited during the daytime on a weekday. The entrance looks easy to walk past if you don’t know it’s there. The day’s 3 set meals are written on a whiteboard displayed at the entrance. That day’s menu: A Chicken karaage set B Grilled hokke fish set C Pork steak rice bowl I chose A, the chicken karaage set. Inside there were 4 counter seats, 1 counter seat by the window, and 2 tables for 2 people. I was told, “Solo diners, please sit at the counter,” so I did. An older lady runs it alone. There are tea cups in front of the counter, and tea is self-service. Customers who seemed to be regulars came in one after another, almost filling the place. The meals were prepared efficiently, with practically no wait (lol). Miso soup, rice, 2 small side dishes, shredded cabbage, and a full 5 pieces of karaage. All this for 830円 is far too cheap. Naturally, it had a gentle home-cooked taste, was very delicious, and made for a satisfying lunch.
View on GoogleI visited for lunch. I had A, the Chinese-style tonkatsu. It was tonkatsu topped with a thick sweet-and-sour sauce. I often see this with white fish, but with tonkatsu it was unexpected and interesting. It also came with rice, miso soup, unohana, and pickled takana. Overall, the seasoning was homey, like visiting Grandma’s house. Especially the miso soup, whose ingredients had been simmered through, reminded me of Grandma’s miso soup. Lol
View on GoogleA set-meal restaurant I found near my apartment building. It’s run single-handedly by an elderly person, but the meal arrived faster than I expected. I was surprised by the good prices too. I was also surprised that the price stayed the same even though I ordered a large serving of rice.
View on GoogleI discovered this restaurant while shopping and was drawn straight in for lunch as if pulled by a magnet. Naturally, it was my first visit (sweat) The menu written on the weathered blackboard? outside was quite hard to decipher, but I decided on A, “Chinese-style tonkatsu”! As I waited, wondering what “Chinese-style?” meant, it turned out to be tonkatsu topped with a thick sweet-and-sour sauce full of vegetables. It was surprisingly good and delicious. I remember sweet-and-sour sauce on chicken and white fish, but tonkatsu was an unexpected and interesting choice(^o^) The flavors were homey overall, gentle and comforting, as if I were visiting my grandmother in the countryside and tasting something from long ago (lol) With a generous serving of rice, miso soup, a small side dish, and even pickles included, 730円(tax included) is amazingly cheap!!
View on GoogleIt’s open today! I arrived after 1, and only the chicken baked with cheese was left. As soon as I ordered, they closed!! Since Grandma runs it alone, it’s open from 11:30 until sold out!!! It’s very much like home cooking, but the tomato sauce and cheese blend beautifully and bring out the tender chicken. Lots of vegetables, hijiki, takuan, and miso soup too, leaving me full, all for 780円. Closed Wednesdays. Next time I’ll come early so I can choose from all 3 dishes❢
