First meal after arriving here. It was so good! I cannot express how wonderfully delicious that first bite of salted mackerel with rice was, and how amazingly juicy and tender the chicken katsu was as it melted in my mouth! It was still early when we arrived and only the cook was there, but he soon got help from another gentleman who was so friendly. He spoke some English and enough for us to do communicate well. I would come back again!

This is why I go to Japan. A set meal cooked with love. Foreigner friendly, owner is super sweet and gives her best to assist for choosing the all the parts. If you want a traditional set meal, go here!

Shiba, Minato Ward. A diner founded in 1924. This area used to be close to the sea, so there were many port workers, and apparently this was a diner for them. However, the surrounding area is now an office district, and the clientele is very different from back then. When you enter, you order first and then take a seat. Please note that saving seats is prohibited, among other rules. It's a style where you pick the side dishes you want to eat yourself, and if you want rice or miso soup, you need to order them separately. My recommendation is the ginger pork. It's also nice that the portion of pickles is generous. The cityscape of this area has changed a lot due to redevelopment, but I felt that old-fashioned places like this are still hanging on strong.

Old-shop tour, part 2330 A long-established diner founded in 1924 Ordered tonkatsu 650円, salt-grilled mackerel 500円, natto 100円, and medium rice 250円 This is an old-fashioned diner where everything can be ordered à la carte The nice thing is you can make whatever combination you like The tonkatsu is fried crispy and delicious! The salt-grilled mackerel is also grilled perfectly, really good! Add natto and rice and it's the perfect Japanese meal Depending on how hungry you are, you can order just side dishes and have a drink too A diner that's been going for over 100 years No parking Cash only
