八吉 新橋店 was an Izakaya we found serving a type of fish we were interested in trying. The private rooms were actually very spacious and nice for chatting, which was a plus. The food overall was just so-so. Most of the standard fish sashimi was pretty regular, and you’ll probably find better quality at other sushi spots for cheaper. One of the standout for me was actually the beef tongue — exceptional, great texture, and absolutely loved it. .The throat fish sashimi, however, had a unique texture and was genuinely enjoyable — I’d recommend trying that. The shabu shabu was fine, but the pork quality wasn’t anything special. Most dishes felt like filler, just to fill the stomach, but nothing I’d come back for specifically. Service on the night was very good — attentive, dishes came out fast, and the waiter gave helpful recommendations. The specialty grilled fish, priced around ¥5000-¥6000, was fresh and decent, glad I tried it but wouldn’t order again. The tempura and seafood-style skewers were okay, nothing particularly remarkable.

I am happy to have found this good quality tempura eatery. 🟧I am very particular over tempura. So if it is good tempura, I would say it as it.
View on GoogleWe ended up here on accident, but it was a happy accident. Not somewhere we would have typically chosen and while I normally avoid anyone trying to draw you into their restaurant we were hungry and it looked good. There were quite a few stairs to get up to the entrance and even more to get to our table, but I really liked the private room and wish we had that here. It was quite boisterous inside, but the walls and door made it feel cozy and honestly it was kinda fun listening to the other groups. The staff were really nice and knew enough English for us to communicate. We got some kaarage and shabu shabu, we even ventured into trying some beer and I got an umeboshi sour ( can't particularly recommend the sour, it just tasted like club soda). The food was all really good albeit on the expensive side.
