Cool small sushi restaurant / sale bar. Good to hear for a drink after work.

Amazingly cheap soba restaurant. However, my personal lesson learnt, don't order cold "fox" soba and add at least a mini rice-bowl. I don't know about others, but soba alone isn't enough to make me full. Crowd Size: Average Payment Method: PayPay

A standing soba shop. You buy a meal ticket from the machine outside (cash only), then hand it over at the kitchen counter at the back. There are no chairs whatsoever. Drawn by the hegi soba, I ordered a mini kakiage rice bowl+mori soba. Hegi soba is soba from the Uonuma region that uses funori as a binder. Thoroughly chilled in cold water, it has a strong springiness and is satisfying to eat. Funori is a type of seaweed. I'm not sure whether this is hegi soba?, but the noodles are quite delicious for a standing soba shop. I think the kakiage in the mini kakiage rice bowl was premade, but it contained seafood ingredients too and was delicious. It lacks the tense atmosphere typical of standing soba shops, and the staff are calm in their service. I also received sobayu at the end of my mori soba. A highly satisfying standing soba shop.

My first visit to the standing soba shop in front of Tamachi Station. It seems to have two roles: a standing soba shop and bento seller by day, and a standing bar serving Niigata drinks and snacks by night. At lunchtime, more customers were lining up outside to buy bentos than entering for soba, and the shop was still uncrowded after 12. Some people bought bentos outside and ate them standing inside; apparently, eating your bento inside comes with miso soup. The soba broth had a pronounced dashi flavor. In these times of rising prices, green onion portions tend to shrink, but here they were plentiful. The kakiage contained both shrimp and squid, making this a bowl that reflected careful work. Speaking of Niigata, 小嶋屋 is famous for 『hegi soba』 made with funori, but since this is a standing shop, naturally no funori was used. However, it seems Niigata local sake is offered cheaply at night, so the menu made me want to come back for evening drinks too.

Visited for standing drinks at night I'd passed by many times but never entered because I didn't know the atmosphere or system. Finally gave it a try! Why didn't I come in sooner!! The Niigata local sake and Niigata-focused food are fantastic! Above all, it tastes great and is cheap! The grilled sanma the person beside me was eating was so big I thought it was horse mackerel or herring, and it was 650えん! I was surprised 2026/4 I had standing drinks alone, paid and left, but wanted to finish with soba, so I came back in. The regulars laughed at me, but the soba was really delicious too! (Of course, it is a soba shop)
