Daily lunch for 800 yen in Akasaka! A bubbling, light sundubu jjigae that's easy on the wallet When I looked at the A-frame sign on the sidewalk, today's (Monday) daily special was "sundubu jjigae," exactly what I'd been craving. I went inside without hesitation. The sundubu jjigae brought out on a tray was piping hot and bubbling away. The banchan in small dishes were 3 kinds: kimchi, bean sprout namul, and spicy potatoes. Compared to the Korean restaurants around here, the selection felt a bit small. Letting the hot sundubu cool a bit, I took a spoonful of the soup. It looks rich and heavy, but the flavor is fairly light. Soft silken tofu, with clams as the main flavor, and a gentle seafood dashi coming through. If preferences split into "rich camp" and "light camp," this one is fully for the "light camp." Personally I like it rich, but this one goes down smoothly in its own way. In a location like Akasaka, a daily lunch for 800 yen is among the cheapest (2nd) of the Korean eateries around, a sundubu jjigae very easy on the wallet. Daily sundubu jjigae ¥800-
View on Google⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️/5 🧚♀️Among the Korean food I've eaten in Japan, this was one of the very best. The seasoning and flavors didn't feel off at all, and it was even more satisfying because it tasted exactly like the authentic food I used to eat in Korea. A place I'd want to come back to whenever I crave Korean food! 🙆🏻♀️It's a Korean restaurant in Japan, but I was surprised at how authentic the taste was. It's exactly the taste of Korea itself, and I'm very satisfied. It was very delicious and I'd like to come again. 🍽️Even though it's a Korean restaurant in Japan, the food tasted very authentic. It reminded me of the real flavors I had in Korea. Definitely worth a visit.
View on GoogleWent in for lunch. It's on the 2nd floor of a building in an area of Akasaka with lots of Korean restaurants. The interior is clean. I ordered the samgyeopsal set meal. The pork belly uses a sauce that goes well with the sweetness of the fat. The rice was delicious, so it went well with the kimchi and namul too. The service was pleasant too, they even told me their recommendations. Cash only, QR payment couldn't be used.
View on GoogleFor lunch there's a lineup of relatively cheap set meals. In particular, the daily menu is listed on the back of the regular menu, with set meals for 700~800 yen. Free rice refills. And it comes with 3 sides like kimchi and namul. For Akasaka, I think a price under 1000 yen for this content is a great-value lunch. It's on the 2nd floor of a building; the building itself is old, but the inside is clean and tidy. The tables have the yakiniku exhaust ducts you often see at yakiniku restaurants.
View on GoogleSundubu tour, shop no. 6. It's appealing that you can eat regular menu items cheaper as the daily special. A bit disappointing that only rice gets refills. The banchan felt ordinary. The kimchi is quite sour, but probably store-bought. And the sundubu has the strongest flavor in the neighborhood. For better or worse, it's a junky taste. The ingredients are simple: just tofu, clams, green onion, and egg. The tofu was big, silky smooth, and delicious. It's like, "oh, there's a cup noodle with this flavor," so if that's your thing, go for it. If anything stands out, the rice (white rice) was delicious, so bibimbap or the set meals might be more satisfying. Also, the food comes out super fast. As fast as Yoshi◯ya, so it might be just right for office workers grabbing a quick bite.
