This place in Akasaka is underground along Hitotsugi-dori, a hidden-gem kind of spot. I dropped by on a weekday evening, and it was bustling with what seemed to be regulars, young and old, men and women. This place focuses on sake and fish, so the sake selection is very extensive. The menu is also wide-ranging, with daily recommendations and value items, so you can really enjoy both the drinks and the snacks.
View on GoogleLong-established restaurant tour, part 2283: a long-standing izakaya founded in 1994 Ordered smoked mackerel sashimi, charcoal-grilled chicken, recommended local sake, and more As a sacred place for drinkers where non-drinkers can't get in, the variety of otoshi (appetizers) is insane! Just as they're particular about their drinks, all the dishes are delicious too! Lots of variety in both food and drinks It seems like nothing you order would be a miss A down-to-earth izakaya in Akasaka Smoking allowed Cash only
View on GoogleFood, service, atmosphere were all really good. R8.2.18 around pm9:30, the man who answered the phone had the worst phone manners. If it weren't a planned drinking outing with my boss through an introduction from a business partner, I would have wanted to cancel. Apparently there's only one type of sake on the all-you-can-drink, the one the shop picks, so they said you can enjoy sake more without all-you-can-drink. When I changed from the course to à la carte, he didn't put the call on hold and, deliberately so I could hear, said "If they don't drink on the day, you should just kick 'em out!" Even if I said we don't drink that much, we still drink normally, you know? If not for this phone call, it would've been a 120-point place. The food is delicious, the service is good too. Prices are cheap and the sake goes down easily.
View on Google【Nearest station】 3-minute walk from Akasaka Station 【Budget】 2000 yen〜3000 yen 【Overview】 A casual izakaya running for nearly 20 years where you can enjoy rare sake and freshly caught seafood cheaply and deliciously. Inside there's counter seating, booth seating, and floor seating, and the exterior has a nostalgic vibe. 【Menu】 ・Otoshi ・Whale bacon ・5-piece sashimi platter (depends on that day's stock) ・Motsu nikomi (stewed offal) ・Noten 3-piece assortment ・4 glasses of sake 【Notes】 This time I visited with my boss from work. We spent 2 hours just drinking sake and chatting away with pretty much only the whale bacon, and that was it... That's how insanely powerful the whale bacon is. Honestly, it's so addictively delicious it could be sold at convenience stores, and above all it pairs well with any sake! And the 5-piece platter that changes with the day's stock, plus the noten — red meat whose fat is light yet rich in flavor — are irresistible!! Number one place where you could keep drinking forever with sake × seafood dishes From 680 yen, they stock sake from all over Japan like Denshu, Zaku, Jikon, and Aramasa, and kindly pour it right to the brim Be careful not to get totally wasted. The only thing: people who can't stand cigarette smoke might want to avoid it... Thank you for the meal. ※3.36 at time of posting
View on GoogleIt's along Hitotsugi-dori, roughly halfway between Akasaka Station and Akasaka-mitsuke Station. The shop is underground, but its retro atmosphere has an indescribable charm, making it a relaxing space. This place's specialty is that you can enjoy sake and delicious fish, and the value-priced chef's-choice local sake set (980 yen) lets you drink 3 kinds of sake — great cost performance! By the way, the premium sake set (1,500 yen) is also 3 kinds, but you can choose very good brands like Aramasa and Juyondai yourself — another super good-value set. And what really stands out is the sheer number of otoshi! Apparently it depends on the owner's mood, but every time they keep coming out to the point of "Huh? There's still more?" And those otoshi are very tasty — in both quantity and quality, more than enough as drinking snacks on their own. On top of that, the regular dishes are cheap and delicious too! The best place for drink lovers, and a great shop that's easy on the wallet. It's always crowded inside, so be careful — especially around 19〜21, there are often no seats available.
