A small Japanese-style restaurant serving Iwate's local cuisine, located underground a 1-minute walk from Akasaka-mitsuke Station. We serve ingredients shipped directly from Iwate, known only to those in the know, which in Tokyo can only be had at Menkoiya. Regular holidays: Sat, Sun, and public holidays; irregular closures (irregular closures due to weather, etc.). Please call us to check whether we're open or closed. *We are not a ramen shop or a reimen specialty shop.

On the former site of Awabiza, an abalone specialty shop that closed during the COVID pandemic, a new shop had opened. Looks like it's almost at its 1st anniversary. It's easy to walk into even as a woman on your own. From the name I thought it was a ramen shop when I went in, but it turned out to be a small restaurant using Iwate ingredients. I ordered Heineken draft beer Sea squirt (hoya) shiokara Menkoiya Original and Second-Generation Morioka reimen comparison set It's not Iwate, but I'm from Tohoku so I used to eat hoya a lot and ordered it on impulse. The hoya shiokara I hadn't had in ages was sooo good! The reimen had a strong chew too, and it was nice to enjoy both flavors. I want to go again when I'm hungrier.

A cold noodle and hot noodle shop a 2-minute walk from Tokyo Metro Akasaka-mitsuke Station. Opened on July 27, 2021. Down the stairs to basement 1, the shop has 6 counter seats and 2 raised tatami private rooms. It has the feel of a small Japanese restaurant. Every step of the cooking is done carefully, and several kinds of noodles are each boiled in their own small pot, so it may take a little time when orders pile up. The Morioka reimen made with this careful work has a calm look. Translucent noodles are heaped in the soup filling the bowl. The toppings are a halved boiled egg, cucumber, chashu, watermelon, and kakuteki. The peak of the noodle mound is dusted with white green onion, plus a sprinkling of white sesame. It looks refreshing and whets the appetite. The noodles have a firm bite, as reimen should. The soup has a clean, clear taste and is quite good.

Today's lunch. First time here. A Morioka reimen shop. Just the right sourness and spiciness, tasty! The noodles are springy and slippery with a great bite. Works as a finisher after drinks or as a regular meal☆ It's a cozy little shop with 2 tatami rooms (probably 4-seaters) and 5 counter seats, so it might be crowded at lunchtime~ Lunch is until 14:30, and it seems it's cash only during lunch hours.

Finished a meeting in Akasaka and around 1pm I found Akasaka Menkoiya🍜♪ The shop is underground. Looking at the photos outside, reimen or a set meal… so torn❗️ Guess I'll have the recommended reimen♪ Went downstairs, sat at the counter in the calm atmosphere, and ordered the spicy reimen🍜 Ordered a small rice too🍚 First time eating Morioka reimen! They're super thick and really filling! Delicious‼️ Seriously, thick slippery noodles, you can't slurp them all in one go^_^ Gotta chew them properly♪ The soup's delicious too♪ So good you could gulp it all down♪ There were 3 other menu items I was curious about! Maybe I'll come eat again next time I'm in Akasaka♪ Thank you for the meal♪

A shop that uses only Iwate ingredients. Unlike other shops, they apparently order even the noodles directly from Iwate. The noodles and broth are wonderfully delicious. It was by far the most delicious of all the reimen I've had. It's reimen so delicious there's no comparison with the famous “Pyonpyonsha,” which has basically become a chain. (Not that I ever thought Pyonpyonsha was good to begin with) The noodle portion is 200g, so I think it's plenty to satisfy even men. Perfect food for the coming season.
