Decent Cantonese restaurant...!
View on GoogleA restaurant in Meguro where you can enjoy authentic Hong Kong cuisine carefully selected by the chef. Since opening in 2019, it has become a popular spot. Now it's difficult to get a reservation. I was able to come after being invited by a gourmet friend. A restaurant where you can enjoy creative Chinese cuisine that pays homage to Hong Kong cuisine and wine. About an 8-minute walk from Meguro Station, it's a hideaway-like restaurant. The interior is centered on counter seats and there is one table in the back; this time we ate at the table. A style where everyone starts at the same time, managed by a single person. Omakase course menu. Dishes made with steamers are also a point of pride! Since they are served on large plates, we shared them. The dishes we enjoyed this time: ✴︎Octopus, potato, and sansho pepper salad ✴︎Water dumplings ✴︎Crab and sea snail chawanmushi ✴︎Hong Kong-style steamed grouper ✴︎Rice ✴︎Claypot stir-fried chicken ✴︎Hong Kong-style spare ribs ✴︎Stir-fried amaranth and century egg ✴︎Shrimp paste fried rice ✴︎Braised noodles with pork and mustard greens ✴︎Coconut pudding and pear. Every dish was exquisitely seasoned and delicious. It seems the ingredients are bought directly in Hong Kong every month. Since it's run by one person, he looks very busy making and serving the food from start to finish, so it might be difficult to talk casually with the chef, but his passion for cooking comes through.
View on GoogleTo my favorite Saeki Hanten. The food here is truly delicious. The dishes have a strong core, and you can enjoy authentic Chinese cuisine that is rarely seen in Japan. It's always managed by one person, but there's a crispness that makes you not feel stressed, including in terms of service. It's fine as long as you're basically drinking bottles. I always visit at the table, and it feels happy to gather with everyone enjoying Saeki Hanten's delicious Chinese food while drinking bottled wine or Shaoxing wine.
View on GoogleThe owner, Yutaro Saeki, manages everything alone, even serving customers. The clean kitchen somehow has a local feel, and the food created from it has a simplicity that can be eaten without being stiff, and everything is delicious without fail. There are no flashy luxury ingredients, and customers aren't looking for them either, just eating Saeki-san's food made with the ingredients available that day while drinking Georgian wine. The unpretentious, relaxed atmosphere is the goodness of "Saeki Hanten". ...However, although wine and other alcoholic beverages are good, the rice with sauce eaten with jasmine rice in hand is still too delicious.
View on GoogleChinese cuisine created by a chef who learned proper Cantonese cuisine in its home country. Because they don't use MSG, every dish has a gentle taste. One of the features might be bringing Georgian wine to pair with it. The owner runs the restaurant alone, but it's understandable that it's becoming popular. It seems general reservations are already almost impossible.
