Fun local spot that is popular for Okonomiyaki. Not much English spoken here but the menu is pretty easy to translate. Always seems busy for dinner. They recently added an outside table. Smoking is allowed here 🚬

Great okonomiyaki. Got the pork one from the front of the menu. Loved every bite. Fun to sit at the grill and watch everything get made.

Eating at the counter in front of the teppan while enjoying the live feel of watching everything get made was the best! This time we had okonomiyaki, Hiroshima-style with yakisoba, shrimp chili, whole grilled squid, and more. Every one of them was a hit that goes great with drinks. The okonomiyaki especially was crispy and fragrant outside and fluffy inside, very much my type. The balance of sauce and mayo was perfect, and the one with yakisoba was super filling, yet I could eat it to the end without getting tired of it. The shrimp chili had plump shrimp well coated in a sweet and spicy sauce, perfect as a snack with drinks. The whole grilled squid was tender too, and paired with mayo and shichimi it was the best! There's a wide range of teppanyaki-style dishes, so I recommend going in a group and sharing. The staff were friendly and it was comfortable, a place I'd like to go back to whenever I want teppanyaki in Toritsudaigaku.

Visited at 7 PM on a weekday in March 2026. The place was full. Even though it's just a few minutes' walk from Toritsu-Daigaku Station, it has a curious atmosphere, as if you've come to an okonomiyaki place out in the regions. I ordered a lot, but the signature Fuchu-yaki was very delicious. I guess you could call it a thin Hiroshima-yaki with extra crispiness? A curious dish you can't get anywhere else, and it was very delicious. There are also lots of drinking snacks that make use of the teppan, so you can probably have a fun time drinking here for any occasion. I'd definitely like to revisit.

「ぷくいち」, quietly tucked away in a back alley right near Toritsu-Daigaku Station. A retro air drifts through it as if the Showa era had been preserved as is, and from the moment you step through the noren, you feel somehow nostalgic. Even without any flashiness, it made me realize that a place with this kind of atmosphere is exactly "the one spot locals truly want to keep coming back to." The specialty, of course, is Fuchu-yaki, which you can only taste here. In its unique style using aburakasu, it's crispy outside, while inside the sweetness of the cabbage spreads juicily, and the texture combined with the fragrant noodles is addictive. Just watching it sizzle to completion on the teppan feels like time-traveling to a Showa-era downtown. The aroma of the sauce and the umami of the aburakasu come together in a flavor you can't stop eating. The à la carte dishes are varied and all delicious. The "mentaiko dashimaki," fluffy with a mentaiko accent; the "beef tendon stew," simmered for hours and packed with melting umami; the "seseri-yaki," juicy with umami that spreads the more you chew; and the nostalgic "octopus wieners" grilled on the teppan. We also ordered beer and highballs. The prices are reasonable too, and I can see exactly why the local regulars recommend it. Inside there are counter seats and tables, and time spent wrapped in the heat of the teppan feels somehow nostalgic and comfortable. Enjoying delicious food and drinks in this Showa-retro space in a back alley, conversations naturally spring up with the customers next to you, and that sense of closeness is part of its charm too. Being able to enjoy authentic Fuchu-yaki in Tokyo is truly rare, and the balance between this atmosphere and the price range is outstanding. I came on a local's recommendation, and it was more comfortable than I expected; I was very satisfied with both the food and the atmosphere. It's a place I definitely want to visit again.
