Meguro River during sakura season is honestly one of the most beautiful walks in Tokyo 🌸 Just a short walk from the main exit of Naka-Meguro Station, the entire canal is lined with cherry blossom trees stretching as far as you can see. The symmetry of the river, the soft pink blooms, and the peaceful flow of water make it a perfect photo spot—especially in the morning when it’s less crowded. The vibe is calm, scenic, and very “Japan spring postcard” feeling. Only downside: it’s surprisingly hard to find coffee shops open early nearby if you’re hoping to sit down, relax, and enjoy the view with a cup of coffee. Best to grab something beforehand if you’re coming early. Still, definitely a must-visit spot during sakura season.
View on GoogleThe promenade doesnt require tickets it is a beautiful area to observe the cherry blossoms blooming stretched over the meguro river. There are boat tours throughout the day and night. Recommend wearing full on rain gear with heavy warm clothes and maybe hand warmers. Otherwise it will be miserable at night in the cold and rain. sometimes the lights are not lit along the river so the tour is not as impressive. We learned it is best to check with the tour operator to see what time they are lit or if the lights are working at all. Some of the tours do not speak English at all without any translator. Recommend verifying that ahead of tour as well.
View on GoogleA quiet and muted walk along the Meguro river with lanterns and street lamps barely illuminating the cherry blossom trees. The latern walk is a good 700m or more from the Meguro station.. and a good 30+ minutes on the Yamanote JR train line from Tokyo station. If you are looking for more spectacular light up probably Chidorigafuchi Park may be a better and nearer bet..Note the street lamps only seems to come on after 7pm.
View on GoogleDifferent Sakura spot a bit put of the town but easy to reach. Through the canal with Sakura trees you can have walk 20-30min one way and it is quite nice. Lanterns are really giving the atmosphere however there were no special lights for Sakura trees like in some pictures or other Parks.
View on GoogleAn unforgettable walk along the Meguro River during sakura season. The cherry blossoms form a soft canopy overhead, reflected in the water below, creating one of those rare, almost dreamlike moments. Quiet, beautiful, and fleeting—exactly as it should be.
