I first saw the restaurant's motsunabe featured on a TV show. Its green-curry flavor was something I hadn't eaten much before and looked delicious, so I promptly made a reservation. I became a fan of the flavor there, and this was my 3rd visit. The course began with 3 kinds of appetizers, followed by potato namul, chicken ham, and chicken wing karaage; everything was delicious. The fried 「makrut lime」 leaves served with the chicken wing karaage were delicious, too. Then the main green curry motsunabe contained several types of offal and vegetables, and all the offal in particular was springy and delicious! More marucho offal and vegetables were added, making it even tastier, and we finished it all. We could choose ojiya or soba to finish, so I chose ojiya. The egg-bound ojiya had absorbed all the flavors from before and was very good. Dessert was homemade hojicha ice cream, which was delicious, too. The hot pot in this visit's photo serves 3, but I'll also upload a photo of the 2-person serving from my previous visit. The staff were pleasant, the food was delicious, and they even had a fruity craft beer available only here, so I definitely wanted to visit again.
View on GoogleThe restaurant is about a 10-minute walk from Shinsen station and a 17-minute walk from Shibuya station. This is the izakaya owned by Hiroyuki Baba of the famous comedy trio 『ロバート』. Of course, it's also been featured in various media and on social media⭐️ Its specialty is 『Thai-style wagyu motsunabe』, an unusual dish you can practically only eat here, and it's hugely popular✨ The main 【Thai-style wagyu motsunabe】 is a green-curry-like offal hot pot fragrant with lemongrass. It gives you that feeling of 『I've never eaten motsunabe like this before』, and it's genuinely delicious⭐️ We enjoyed it right through to the noodles at the end. They also stock plenty of liqueurs made with ingredients used in Thai cooking, such as 『lemon』 and 『coriander』, so getting to enjoy drinks you've never tried before is another plus◎✨ Of course, they have plenty of beer and wine, too. It was a lovely place to enjoy drinks and motsunabe. Thank you for the meal✨ 【Conclusion】 『The location is a little inconvenient, but that also gives it a nice hideaway feel. A lovely place you can enjoy for around 5000円 if you don't drink too much✨』
View on GoogleI like Thai food, so I visited after hearing about Thai-style motsunabe. The base is green-curry flavored with a strong lemongrass note. It includes cuts such as senmai and hachinosu that aren't usually in motsunabe, which is a treat for meat lovers. It starts with vegetables, and the offal arrives once the vegetables have flavored the broth. Takahashi at the counter takes care of the hot pot, so it's always ready to eat at just the right moment. The otoshi snacks are fun, too, with a random offal dish served each time. It's so delicious that the drinks keep flowing and I keep eating. Even with a 2kg gain the next day, I'm already craving it again; it's addictive.
View on GoogleBaba from ロバート opened 『マツミサカバ』 in Matsumizaka㊗️ Baba, who is also very active as a cook on YouTube and elsewhere, adapted an offal stew that impressed him in Thailand into a set course🇹🇭 We ordered the Thai-style wagyu motsunabe course(1 serving 3,800円)💁♀️ ・Appetizers ① Zaru mozuku from Okinawa With a clean bite, and served with mentsuyu rather than vinegar, it was easy to slurp and made a good start. ② Low-temperature-cooked chicken breast with Thai-style sauce Moist like yodare-dori, and great with the savory, spicy sauce! I also liked the focused heat of the spice salt 『沖縄県産島とうがらし旨辛スパイス』, which Baba created in collaboration with Takahashi Shoten, the makers of Yasumaru Dashi🎵 ③ Motsuyaki Along with the springy texture, we enjoyed the fragrant aroma of Baba's original chili powder made from roasted Chiba chilies! ・Thai-style motsunabe Domestic beef oxtail broth, rich like gomtang soup, combines with the savory flavor of springy offal and the refreshing aroma of distinctly Thai spices for an addictive taste. With 「prik pon」, dried and powdered Thai chilies, we could also experience authentic intense heat😆 Champon noodles with mild coconut cream added made a perfect finish to the hot pot's developed broth! ・Homemade hojicha ice cream A fitting treat for that separate dessert stomach after warming up😋 Since there were 5 of us, we enjoyed bottles of white wine with tropical-fruit aromas, fresh Beaujolais Nouveau 2024, and a Burgundy Pinot Noir red wine that was fragrant yet relatively gentle on both palate and wallet, making it a fun year-end party🥳 Baba isn't always there, but manager Takahashi has been confidently entrusted with the place, so even when Baba is absent, I'd like to go again—go Thai again😆 Incidentally, the restaurant sign was designed by art director Gugi Akiyama. It's a lovely design with モツニ emerging within the マツミ of the name 『マツミサカバ』👏 Such a wonderfully tasteful place😌
View on GoogleIt's about a 10-minute walk from the station, but the location is easy to find. The neon look was stylish. The menu consists of courses with no à la carte options, so I think it's a place for a full meal. I think the signature Thai-style motsunabe is seasoned to be easy to enjoy even for people who aren't keen on ethnic cuisine. It didn't contain coriander, either, so I enjoyed it. I chose champon to finish, and they added coconut sauce, making it milder and offering a nice change of flavor. The owner was kind, too, and I was satisfied to enjoy a meal while chatting happily as if at a casual bar! I'd like to come back to eat if they introduce a new menu.
