A small and yet a very well-curated gallery located around Ookayama Station. Few minutes walk just out of the station. Always love to see the taste and selection of the owner Hamasaki in painting and photography. Please also check out his sound label mAtter which he has established for a long time.

The works exhibited here make us notice many things we hadn't noticed before — whether it's a perspective or a way of thinking. Many of the works are by artists who aren't known in Japan, and that's what sets it apart from any other gallery or museum. That said, it isn't difficult at all; you can simply face the works naturally. It's a very precious space that anyone can enjoy, without needing any background information or having to brace yourself for art. It's a gallery that reminds you that not knowing something is exactly what lets you enjoy it. By the way, the lighting design is great. Like galleries overseas, it's thoughtfully designed to make the works easy to view. (I wish the big museums would take note too.)
