Pretty tasty! Gyoza were not bad too
View on GoogleI enjoyed Iekei-style ramen at a popular restaurant in 町田. The rich pork-bone and soy-sauce soup has a deep flavor, but its finish is lighter than it looks, making it easy to drink. The thick noodles have a springy texture and hold the soup beautifully. The large char siu slices are tender, while the spinach and seaweed balance the whole bowl. Changing the flavor with the garlic and doubanjiang on the table kept it enjoyable to the end. What's more, noodle refills use thin noodles and cost a welcome 100円, offering the appeal of a different texture. It was a highly satisfying bowl.
View on GoogleAt the meal-ticket machine, you can choose thick or thin noodles for the same flavor. You can also select cooking preferences and so on at the machine, which is convenient. There was no gyoza. The interior was spacious and clean. There's a coin laundry next door, and the parking lot is shared.
View on GoogleThere's parking in front of the restaurant. It uses meal tickets. New banknotes can't be used, so exchanging them takes time. Noodle firmness and other preferences are also selected on a touch screen that takes time if you're unfamiliar with it. Customers who arrived after me also took a while, with the currency exchange adding to that. A fairly large restaurant with 10 counter seats and 20 table seats. There's also a coin laundry next door, and apparently take-home ramen can be purchased 24 hours a day. It's staffed by 2 foreign Asian women. Their cheerful service and the absence of a macho atmosphere make it comfortable. They use a central kitchen, so perhaps this is what ramen restaurants will become. With this many seats, it doesn't seem likely to get crowded even at lunchtime. It's a famous restaurant that ranked 1 in the Iekei category for delivered noodles, but in the debate over whether it's Iekei or not, the owner clearly said it's not Iekei! So I suppose this isn't Iekei. They make broth from kibinago and prepare the soup to remove strong odors; even the chicken fat has no unpleasant smell, so it might be easy to eat even for people who don't like Iekei. It was a delicious, well-balanced ramen. The default is a little salty, but good for summer. The factory-made soup and simmered pork probably have little variation. I'd definitely like to try the original soup at the main restaurant too. Thank you for the meal. The extra char siu comes as 2 slices on a small plate, but it looks rather unimpressive, so it would be better to put it directly in the ramen bowl.
View on GoogleI'd been curious about 「せんだい」 ever since it opened on a corner lot near 町田高校. When I went around 14:00 on a weekday, there was only one group of customers. It's a pork-bone ramen with a flavor close to 「末廣家」 in 六角橋. I recognized it with the first sip of soup! Very delicious. The presentation and the way the toppings were served were the same too. The latest ticket machine lets you choose firmness, flavor strength, and even toppings. You can choose medium-thick or thin noodles, and add thin noodles served on a plate. The toppings come on separate plates. Probably because there's too much to fit on the ramen bowl. The wood ear mushrooms weren't cut, which made them substantial to eat, pleasantly crunchy, and delicious.
