Japanese version is also written below We had a lovely experience at this traditional Japanese soba restaurant. As soon as we entered, we were seated on tatami mats, which gave the meal a very authentic and cozy atmosphere. The menu was also very traditional and didn’t have pictures, so it might be a little challenging if you don’t read Japanese, but the staff were incredibly helpful. There were three of us, including one vegan. The staff kindly recommended the vegan-friendly set meals and even offered a fork, which was a thoughtful gesture and made us feel very welcome. We ordered three cold soba set meals, and the service was impressively fast. Each set included fresh cold soba noodles, flavorful dipping broth, and crispy tempura. Everything tasted fresh, well-prepared, and satisfying. The warm hospitality, quick service, and willingness to accommodate dietary preferences made our visit especially enjoyable. If you’re looking for an authentic Japanese soba experience with kind and attentive staff, this is definitely a place worth visiting. There were 3 of us. One of us was vegan, but the staff kindly recommended a vegan set and even prepared a fork for us, which was a big help. Inside, we were shown to tatami seating and could enjoy our meal in a calm, distinctly Japanese atmosphere. The menu was old-fashioned with no photos, but the staff assisted us attentively, so we could order with peace of mind. We ordered 3 cold soba sets. They were served very quickly; the set came with tempura, cold soba, and tsuyu, and everything was delicious. The tempura in particular was crispy, the soba had a nice flavor, and we were very satisfied. The staff's warm hospitality and thoughtfulness left a strong impression. Recommended for anyone who wants to taste authentic Japanese soba or is looking for a vegan-friendly restaurant.

A long-established soba restaurant along Machida Kaido. The interior is charming with a nice atmosphere. On the walls are autographs from an Iron Chef and enka singers I'd never heard of. When I went in at 12 on a weekday, I was told the food would take about 30 minutes, but since I'd come all that way, I went ahead and sat in the zashiki area. Some customers who came after me were told it would take a while and left. I ordered the Owari-ju (1480 yen) and zaru seiro (800 yen). The firm, chewy soba is delicious even without dipping it in the sauce. The shrimp and vegetable tempura on the ju and the rice go really well with the sweet sauce. There's a parking lot next to the restaurant, but it's an irregularly shaped lot and you park nose-in, so I struggled to turn around when leaving.

I come to this Owariya now and then, and it never disappoints. The seasoning is on the strong side and the portions are quite generous. I always get the Owari-ju, and the tendon alone is about a regular single serving. Prices are reasonable, there's parking, the inside is spacious, and there's zashiki seating too. Recommended.

Since it was Sunday, it was bustling with families. There's table seating and zashiki seating; this time I sat in the zashiki. Zaru soba starts at just under 700 yen, and there are rice bowls and more, so there's a wide variety. After much deliberation I ordered a large ten zaru soba. It was crowded, so it arrived in about 20 minutes. More filling than I expected! The mentsuyu flavor was to my liking too, delicious. There's a dedicated parking lot next door and it faces Machida Kaido, so I think access isn't bad either. I'd like to come again. Thanks for the meal.
