Visited Hakata Tempura Naguya Machida around 7 p.m. on a weekday. No wait, about 30% full, and I was the only one at the counter. The interior is fairly bright and spacious, with counter seats and booth seats. It uses a meal ticket system, and the tempura comes out in order as each piece is fried. The pre-relocation Atsugi branch I often went to more than 10 years ago struck me as pretty crowded, so I was surprised the Machida branch was a bit too quiet. I had the tori-ten set meal and a single buta-rosu. The tori-ten set meal had 2 pieces of chicken kashiwa, 2 pieces of chicken thigh, and 3 vegetables, which were daikon, lotus root, and green beans. Being able to eat it fresh from the fryer is great; the chicken is light, and the buta-rosu tastes good enough that you'll want to add one. The tabletop extras are plentiful too. Spicy bean sprouts, yuzu daikon, nori tsukudani, and mentaiko are all-you-can-eat. Ika no shiokara is 100 yen à la carte. There's also yuzu kosho, lemon wedges, salt, tendon sauce, and homemade ponzu, and you can add more daikon oroshi for the tentsuyu. I'm glad they've got even these small details covered. I get the impression prices have gone up, but you get freshly fried tempura, lots of all-you-can-eat items, and a fairly spacious shop. Given rising prices, some of it can't be helped, but personally I still like it. I'd like to go again when I want to casually eat tempura in Machida. Access: about 1.5km from Kobuchi Station, you can take a bus from Machida Bus Center to the "Kiso" bus stop Hours: 11:00〜around 21:30 Reservations: not accepted Payment: no cards, e-money OK, QR code payment OK Smoking: non-smoking throughout Seating: counter seats, table seats Parking: available Children: children welcome Signature items: tori-ten set meal, Hakata set meal, buta-rosu-ten, various tendon, à la carte tempura Good for: eating alone, families, a roadside meal, when you want freshly fried tempura casually Notes: The Machida branch opened on March 13, 2023. Naguya opened its first shop in Atsugi in 2008

I'd love to come often, but it's far…… I really wish they'd open more locations. The freshly fried tempura is of course delicious, and there are lots of things to go with rice, so personally I think rice beats noodles at this place. The free extras like daikon oroshi are nice too. Also, the restroom was amazing. It's the first time I've ever wanted to take a photo of a restroom.

Visited on a weekday evening. It's dinnertime but the place is nearly empty. Are they okay? Ordered a tempura set and some à la carte. Each piece of tempura is served one at a time, freshly fried. Overall the batter is thin and it's cooked just right. The anago was delicious. The free mentaiko is nice, but as others mentioned in their comments, the white rice was dry and not great. The service was very polite and kind, so thumbs up.
