Dropped in on a whim for lunch with my son! The old-fashioned atmosphere is lovely, and the couple running it are really nice — a great place. Thank you for giving my elementary-school son a Yakult. My son had his favorite, fried rice. I ordered the tanmen limited to 10 servings and gyoza. The fried rice was the fluffy kind, just my taste, and my son was totally satisfied. The tanmen and gyoza were delicious too. It's close by, so I'll stop by again. It was really delicious. Thanks for the meal~(^_^) Thank you.
View on GoogleA long-established neighborhood Chinese restaurant run by a pleasant elderly couple, quietly operating in a residential area of Machida. Inside and out, the shop has a Showa-era feel. Maybe because it doubles as their home, there's a lived-in, cluttered vibe. Delivery calls come in nonstop, and the wife is run off her feet handling them. The husband does all the cooking solo and squeezes in deliveries between, so hectic it's almost painful to watch. You probably can't eat in a relaxed way… the saving grace is that the food comes out fast. I came several times after work and tried various things. The dish names are in the attached photos, and my impressions are in the video under [Latest Info], so please check those out too. Below is an overall review by category. Ramen… The light chicken-bone-based soup is a flavor you won't tire of. The house-made noodles are egg-rich, thin and straight, and taste good. Japanese soba… Also thin house-made noodles; not much aroma, but they have chew. The kaeshi is so-so; I think it's store-bought. Rice bowls… The large rice is about 1.5 gō (500g), a satisfying amount. But the egg is overcooked, and the seasoning is mild and lacks punch. Fried rice… My expectations were raised too high by its reputation. Around Hachioji, Sagamihara, Fuchu, and Yokohama there are plenty of places that are tastier and more generous. As is common with shops run by elderly owners, many give small portions for fried rice only. Because tossing the wok is heavy? I'd gladly pay 200 yen extra for a large if it meant double the amount. Gyoza… Chewy skin, crispy browned bottoms, and a garlicky filling with tons of garlic chives. Delicious enough to rival [正太楼] in Machida and [宏苑] in Sagamihara. Western dishes… The safe flavor typical of Showa-era neighborhood Chinese places. There are no set meals, so à la carte + rice makes it pricier. Inside, tanmen and chicken rice get ordered a lot, which makes sense cost-wise. Evening hours are mainly delivery and the noren isn't hung, but if you call out they'll let you in. All of the above is just the personal opinion of an outsider whose hobby is eating around. In an area with few restaurants, it's a precious place for the locals. I hope the couple take care of their health, don't overdo it, and keep going together for many years to come………
View on GoogleA nostalgic, old-school neighborhood Chinese restaurant. I didn't know there was one so close by. Even though I'm a light eater, I had ramen and gyoza the first time, and tanmen and gyoza the second time. It was truly delicious. Both the noodles and the gyoza skins are house-made. No wonder it's delicious. To the husband and wife who run it, please stay well always.
View on Google2026.05.09 My son was out at his club activities again today, so a solo 喜谷さん went looking for lunch at 富久栄楼 near the city hospital. I just barely missed the famous tanmen, limited to 10 servings a day, so I took the opportunity to investigate the curry ramen (750 yen incl. tax). By the way, the curry ramen and the curry rice are the same price. The curry ramen uses thin noodles. On top of the noodles, besides the curry, there's wakame, adding a faint scent of the sea as an accent. It seems they repurpose the roux prepared for the curry rice for the curry ramen too. Peeking into the kitchen from the counter, I saw they didn't just put reheated roux on the ramen, but thinned it out well with chicken-bone broth so it wouldn't clump in the bowl before putting it IN. The curry ingredients are thick-ish pork belly, onion & carrot. Even though it's diluted by the ramen soup, the curry's heat came through clearly. 富久栄楼 is run by just the couple. This time I happened to come in while the owner was out on a delivery, and there were customers ahead of me, so I ended up waiting 15 minutes for my bowl, but I had time to spare today so no problem. I'll find another chance to come back and have the regular curry rice next time…(*´ω`*) 2025.09.07 There used to be two shops calling themselves 富久栄楼 in Machida City, one in Kiso and one in Asahimachi. However, the one in Kiso seems to have closed about 3 years ago. But 富久栄楼 in Asahimachi is still going strong! So my son and I charged in for lunch for the first time in 5 years. This time 喜谷さん had the tanmen (600 yen incl. tax), limited to 10 servings a day and not available for delivery, and my son had the fried rice (750 yen incl. tax) as a large (+100 yen incl. tax). The tanmen and fried rice both arrived less than 10 minutes after ordering. First, the tanmen. The noodles are ultra-thin and straight, with a softness more like Shiroishi nyumen than ramen. The toppings are plentiful in both variety and amount. This might be my first time having green pepper in tanmen. The seasoning is low in salt, but the broth, apparently chicken-bone based, has plenty of depth, so it doesn't feel lacking. It almost felt like drinking vegetable soup rather than eating ramen, but it was a very gentle and delicious tanmen. The fried rice is the loose, separate-grain type. This too is lightly salted. While the tanmen made up for the restrained saltiness with broth, the fried rice seems to add accent with the aroma of soy sauce. The soy flavor isn't strong, but the aroma comes through. Maybe the soy-soaked juices leaking out of the chashu are what's giving off that soy sauce aroma. 富久栄楼's layout is compact: two 4-person low tables in the raised tatami area, one small 4-person round table, and a counter for 4. There's basically no parking, but apparently it's OK to park in '月極2' at the back of the coin parking lot in front of the shop if it's free. It seems to be run by just the couple, so if delivery orders come in, your bowl may take a while. Even though I came in at 1:30 pm today, regulars kept streaming into 富久栄楼. Evening hours only go until 8 pm, so using it as a drinking spot might be a bit tough, but there's a good selection of small plates, so I'd like to try it for an evening drink before long…(*´ω`*) 2020.07.09 There's a neighborhood Chinese restaurant called 富久栄楼 near my home, but there's also a shop with the same name a bit further away, in front of the city hospital. This time, to investigate the relationship between these two shops, I conducted a reconnaissance in force on the '富久栄楼' a little ways from my home. Today the tanmen (550 yen incl. tax) was the recommended item, so I ordered tanmen and gyoza (480 yen incl. tax). Thin noodles. The soup is a light, chicken-bone-based finish. I felt it could use a bit more vegetables, but complaining at 550 yen would be asking for divine punishment. I thought the gyoza might be a bit pricey, but with 6 pieces I think it's standard. Now, as for the purpose of today's investigation, 'the relationship between the 富久栄楼 near 喜谷さん's home and the 富久栄楼 in front of the city hospital,' I asked the owner, and it turns out the owner of the 富久栄楼 near 喜谷さん's home is a junior of the owner of the 富久栄楼 in front of the city hospital. Apparently the two trained together at a Chinese restaurant that used to be in Takinosawa. Come to think of it, there really was a Chinese restaurant in Takinosawa…. No wonder both shops have similar flavor tendencies and menu lineups. Towns have history, people have history, and shops have history too — that's what I felt during today's work-from-home lunch…(*´ω`*)
View on GoogleOn my way back from OK Store. Suddenly craved some neighborhood Chinese food, looked it up, found one right nearby and headed straight there 🚗💨 I slid the door open with a rattle and the owner, who'd been reading the newspaper, looked up with an 'Irasshaimase~' The vibe of the owner waiting for customers, the couple running the place who seem to get along so well, the atmosphere inside, the customers coming in after me oozing local vibes So incredibly relaxing… a confirmed hit of 'the•machi-chuka' 👍 Kata-age soba… 800 yen Fried rice… 750 yen Everything about machi-chuka is packed in here! The best!
