I had the shogayaki and fried rice◎ Both were very generous portions and tasted delicious🙌🙌 The prices were cheap overall too, and I was very satisfied! The shogayaki had green peppers in it, and personally I liked how the green pepper flavor really came through in the sauce! The sauce had a slightly Western-style taste! This was also really delicious🙌 (I feel like I could taste oyster sauce, which probably isn't used in regular shogayaki...maybe!) With the fried rice, the moment it went into my mouth, even before it touched my tongue, the aroma of pepper and lightly fried egg spread out, and that alone made me certain "this is a good one." lol

A machi-chuka (neighborhood Chinese restaurant) I came across while walking from Aihara to Lake Tsukui! This place, Aomoriken, is a machi-chuka where local old guys gather, run by two people: a mom with a charming voice and a dad from Aomori Prefecture! The shop has both zashiki seating and counter seats, and the regulars seem to often grab the counter seats where you can see the TV! I visited Aomoriken on my way back from Lake Tsukui just after 6 PM, totally worn out when I walked in! When I entered, the mom's raspy voice greeted me, and it seems like it could become addictive in a different sense! After a little chat with the dad and mom, I spotted omurice on the menu, which I hadn't had recently! Even now with eggs being expensive, 750 yen feels like a deal, so of course I ordered a large omurice (plus 100 yen) from the dad! While I waited, a regular came in and was talking with the dad and the others about who won and lost in sumo! In about 6 minutes, the large omurice arrived at the counter! The omurice was perfectly round like a full moon, and the sauce was, of course, classic ketchup! Inside the classic omurice was chicken rice with chicken and finely chopped onions! With a little ketchup, it's a nostalgic, homestyle omurice and delicious! The tanginess and saltiness, which seemed to soak into my sweaty body, really whetted my appetite! The egg was cooked until fragrant, and it goes perfectly with the chicken rice! Moved by omurice I hadn't eaten in ages, I savored every last bite of the omurice the mom and dad worked so hard to make in their hot kitchen, and cleaned my plate! I thought, omurice really is all about classic ketchup and chicken rice~, and took a breather enjoying the afterglow, satisfied! Everyone, when you're in the area, please enjoy all kinds of dishes to your heart's content at Aomoriken, where you can eat classic omurice! Finally, as I left, I expressed my gratitude to the dad and mom who worked so hard making omurice in the heat, and headed out! I'll stop by again when I'm nearby, so take care! I always eat the amazing stir-fried veggies and fried rice while drinking, but the tanmen I had for the first time the other day was the most delicious tanmen of my life😋 The master and mama are the best people too‼️ I hope they stay healthy and keep going forever♪😊

A machi-chuka run by an elderly couple. Being greeted by the okami-san's raspy voice is heartwarming. This time I tried the miso ramen; the soup carries the umami of the crisp stir-fried vegetables and goes well with the thin noodles, and I think the quality is quite high for 650 yen. Inside, a lady who seemed to be a regular and the okami-san were busy chatting about neighborhood gossip, and when I turned around thinking it smelled like cigarettes, the okami-san was puffing away….

After early-morning softball, we ordered delivery for drinks at home. It was my first delivery ramen in 20 years, and I was moved by how super old-school the ramen was🥹 I was pretty drunk, but I think the ramen was delicious. The stir-fried vegetables we ordered as a side had a strong flavor and made me want rice🥴 Goes great as a snack with beer!!
