Good for insta bai stuff. Perfect for cooling down on a hot summer day if you’re not into the insta bai ish.

Buttoshi Rock (you pronounce it Boo-ttow-she!! lol) provides its visitors with a gorgeous ocean view through a uniquely formed stone/rock on the coast. It's almost as if there was a huge hole punched out of these two massive boulders on the beach! At the right time, you can watch the sun set through the tunnel-like hole, and it sure is a site to be seen! It is one of the islanders' recommended places to see on the west coast walking path (we found this all on their official site: kozushima-tokyo.com). It is just a few seconds right off the road on your way up or down the coast line, so stop by and take a few photos while you are in the vicinity!

When they took us snorkeling, the Umitoki staff stopped by here for us. We took a commemorative photo too.

Two holes pass through the base of the rock. If you look at Buttoshi Rock from behind, you can clearly see the two holes.

A truly mysterious spot. I heard it was carved out by the force of the waves, but the hole is so unnaturally formed that you wonder if that's really true. The hole is maybe about 5 m high and about 2 m wide. The surroundings are rocky, so watch your footing carefully. Also, there are a LOT of sea slaters (funamushi). If you don't like bugs, be careful not to get startled by them and fall. It's hard to spot when heading toward the Akasaki Promenade, but easy to spot when heading toward the village. By the way, there's another hole right next to this one.
