I always thought of this ramen.
View on GoogleThis was my first visit. Since I was there, I ordered the special ramen and the spicy green onion chashu bowl. It says iekei, but it didn't feel that heavy; I thought it was relatively light and easy to eat. The crunchy onions placed on the table were good too. I was nervous about how spicy the spicy green onion chashu bowl would be, but it was also really easy to eat, with just the right amount of heat. I didn't check whether it's only at lunchtime, but when you order ramen, you can get a large portion or rice for free. When I handed over my meal ticket for the spicy green onion chashu bowl, the staff member from overseas asked me, "Would you like rice with that?", and I thought, "I really can't eat that much…", which was a bit funny. The interior has a calm atmosphere, and it's a very easy shop to walk into. Thank you for the meal.
View on GoogleI knew it had newly opened, so I dropped in on a whim. I went with the chashu-men. The noodles were on the thick side. They went down pretty smoothly. The chashu was melt-in-your-mouth tender and super delicious. I asked for the soup to be lighter, but it was a bit strong, which was a shame, but the deliciousness of the chashu won out♡
View on GoogleLunch at "Yokohama Iekei Ramen Akaya Sumiyoshi," located on the corner at the entrance of Sumiyoshi Ginza Shopping Street, just steps from Sumiyoshi Station in Koto-ku. It was just past 12 on a Sunday, but it was empty, so we went in. If paying cash, you buy a ticket at the ticket machine; if using PayPay, you scan a QR code to pay. I ordered the Akamori Ramen (1080 yen), and my companion ordered the Akaya Tsukemen (1150 yen). For the ramen you can choose soy sauce or salt, and I went with the soy sauce base. For the tsukemen you can choose soy sauce, salt, yuzu, or katsuo, and my companion chose yuzu. We asked for regular for noodle firmness, flavor strength, and amount of oil. Partway through, I saw the shop owner's recommended way of eating written up, so I followed it exactly and threw in garlic, onions, spicy miso, and black pepper. They also gave us rice for free, so I had it with nori and soup poured over it, and I'm stuffed.
View on GoogleVisited at lunchtime. Because of how the shop is built, cold air from outside comes in every time a customer arrives. The inside is clean and the staff are good. I ordered the Akamori Ramen (1120 yen, I think). The crucial part, the taste, wasn't good. I remember the nori being horribly bad the first time I went, so I'd stayed away from the shop for a while. This time it wasn't bad, but it wasn't good either. At iekei ramen shops, I think the best thing is to soak the nori in the soup and wrap rice with it, but this wasn't tasty. Free rice is nice, but the taste is so-so. If so, I'd rather they charge for it. The large noodle portion might be welcome for growing young people.
