Opened in 2015 as the second shop of "らぁ麺やまぐち", らぁ麺やまぐち 辣式 has excellent access, just a 1-minute walk from Toyocho Subway Station. It's a popular shop among people looking for mazesoba or ramen in Koto Ward. The signature "Mapo Mazesoba" is a bowl with an exquisite harmony of heat and umami, and many customers have praised it as a mazesoba with the deep flavor typical of Yamaguchi. In addition, the "辣式 塩らぁ麺", which uses Seki aji fish sauce as a secret ingredient, is a one-of-a-kind ramen with a rich yet clear umami. It features a deep flavor where heat, umami, and aroma layer together. If you want to enjoy authentic mazesoba and ramen in Koto Ward…

Ginger soy sauce ramen with a high degree of perfection. Authentic visuals, refreshing and rich soup, it can be said to be my favourite ramen restaurant in Tokyo. Cashless only.

This was a store i wanted to visit as it is close to my workplace in Toyocho, Koto ku. After checking which were the best ramen stores in this area, Yamaguchi came up and was reviewed on ramen adventures website and some Youtube videos. Mabo Mazesoba- The menu and style interested me as i love spicy and Chinese flavors. This is a different style of ramen. The noodles are covered in a delicious miso spicy paste. The premium bowl is a little pricy at 1,500¥. But, i think it’s worth it, if you want to experience it for the first time. The combination of pork was absolutely delicious. The coriander, gives a fresh and clean taste to the bowl. The noodle are thick and chewy, and once the poached egg added gives a nice dimension of taste. The spice isn’t too strong, but you can add extra spice. The amount is filling, but! If you buy a bowl of rice 120¥, you add it to the stock left over from the ramen! It makes it into a delicious rice meal! Which adds a new dimension of taste. Hmnn, i think this should be included in the meal price. From seeing the comments here… as always, ramen is always a subjective opinion. Staff were friendly and talkative. For people complaining about how spicy it is… i don’t really understand why?! If you knew the store style sells spicy ramen, why eat it? If you don’t like spice? Go to another store. Why give a 1 star rating based on your lack of knowledge prior to eating. But anyway, for any tourists coming. Definitely check this place out! The ordering system is a ticket, and fairly easy to get seated and order meals.

Opens for lunch at 11:30 and had a cue of 14 people so go early. Basically 2 types of noodles with wide variety of additional toppings. One is a very simple salt based soup and the other is a Spicy Mabo topping on soup less noodles. Very clean store with friendly staff.

Had wanted to go for awhile after finding it on the Michelin website. Everything met my expectations for good ramen. I had the shio ramen and rice set, 1030 yen. The soup of the ramen was delicate and crisp. I could tell everything was fresh and 'real' in the sense nothing tasted unnatural about it. Noodles were a great consistency as well. Waited approx 15 minutes before entering, bought meal tickets at a vending machine. For non-Japanese speakers, at the time of my visit I don't recall seeing any English on the vending machine, but I'm sure the staff or someone else waiting would be happy to help. Will go again.

The place is located in the alley. I didn’t read Japanese so my brother and I pressed a random button on the ticket machine and surprise!!!! The bowl size is pretty decent for ¥1,050. Strong garlic which I love and a little bit spicy side but doesn’t burn my tongue. I ended up ordering a second bowl by showing the picture of the one I want to the nice gentleman behind the counter and gave him some money. He then went to the ticket machine and pressed a few buttons to get my order. My tummy is happy 😁
