Delicious food, affordable prices, good and speedy service. Ambiance is average, typical for this type of restaurants.

Family style pub. Anyway, fast and cheap. It is definitely worth a visit in Japan.

I found this place through a Google Maps search while looking for a set-meal restaurant where I could eat alone at night. The entrance is long and narrow and looks a little intimidating at first, but an energetic staff member welcomed me, and I went in alone, prepared to share a table. It is much bigger than you would guess from outside, with Japanese-style wall decorations fitting for Monzen-nakacho. There are plenty of menu options sized just right for a solo dinner. I ordered the Tomisui Teishoku (premium: sashimi and tempura) set. Despite the crowds, the food arrived quickly. The sashimi was fresh, and the tempura had a chewy texture that I liked. I tend to save my favorite ingredients for last, but everything was so delicious that I could hardly decide what to save. The service could be described positively as friendly, though some people might feel that the staff get a little too personally familiar. That may be a matter of preference. At the register, I was told that cards were not accepted, so I searched my bag for cash in the dimly lit restaurant and paid. Perhaps I took too long, because the woman at the register grumbled at me as if I were being a nuisance. I recommend having your cash ready when you pay.
