Italian restaurant “TAVERNA API (タヴェルナ アーピ)” in Toyocho, Koto Ward. “API,” which gave the restaurant its name, means “honeybee” in Italian. And “Taverna” means something like a casual eatery or tavern. Precisely because of times like these, we want you to spend “happy” time with your friends and family. We hope to become a place for all of you like a secret hive where honeybees gather. 【Koto Ward・Italian・Popular・Recommended】

The atmosphere it’s nice and food is tasty. They have fix menu for lunch and they can make vegetarian options if you ask for it.

I came for lunch. I had the panini set—apparently panini means warm sandwiches. It's filling and very, very elaborately made; the luxury of something I could never hope to recreate at home made it the best. The chilled soup is delicious, the appetizer has a creative twist and is delicious, the food comes out reasonably quickly—this place is perfect. Lunch is such ridiculously good value that I think the restaurant's message is: if you like it, come back for dinner! The staff are great too; it's packed with regulars, so having to wait in line is understandable.

The Italian restaurant I'm most hyped about out of everywhere I've been in the past year. I've only ever been for dinner, but I seriously recommend it. Everything you eat is delicious, and the wine is wonderful too. Which is why it's super crowded. But I go anyway. I'm a regular. What I especially love is the recommended appetizer platter. It's piled high with all kinds of things, beautifully arranged too, and it sends my self-esteem through the roof for having ordered it. By the way, the service here is attentive, so when you go as a pair they'll suggest sharing one portion between two, but if you're a pair confident in your stomach capacity, I'm sorry to say it, but don't follow that suggestion—I recommend properly ordering the platter for two. Because the visual beauty explodes in all its splendor... The pasta and pizza are, naturally, delicious too. My favorite pasta here is the squid ink and myoga. It's simple, but it's probably the best squid ink pasta I've ever had. If it's on, I always order it. From the regular menu, my favorite is the walnut and gorgonzola. The sauce isn't too pungent, which is great—I wipe it up with bread to the very last bit. The pizza dough itself is delicious, so you probably can't go wrong with any of them, but my favorites so far are the one with new-season onions, the citrus one, and the one topped with a soft-boiled egg. I always sit at the counter, and I recommend it because you can watch the pizzas going into the oven from across the counter. Also, the pizzaiolo, apparently, when they touch the dough and feel like “something's off with this one today”?, sets that dough aside, so presumably something didn't meet the pro's standards... maybe the temperature or humidity? In other words, only dough that passes the strict scrutiny of a professional's eye gets to become pizza!! And welcome, right in front of me! The wine here is lovely too—leave it to the sommelier and everything is taken care of. They even seem to pour things by the glass that aren't on the menu. Don't overthink it, just leave everything to them. Their explanations are very thorough, which lets me enjoy it even more with the food. As I mentioned, from the counter seats you can see the staff at work up close, and it's fun to watch the dishes come together. The clientele is diverse too: not just groups of friends(?) and young couples on dates, but parents with kids, and even drinking parties of middle-aged office workers. You can feel how welcoming this place is... which makes sense, since you can eat food this good without any pretension. A truly precious restaurant—please, I beg you, don't get any more crowded…

A restaurant my work colleagues invited me to. Unimaginable from the casual exterior, a lineup of seriously authentic dishes. From the appetizer platter to dessert, everything is consistently delicious 😋 “Is it really okay for this level to be at this price?” you'll surely be surprised when you pay the bill.
