A Showa-retro set meal restaurant on a back street in Toyosu. It's cheap with big portions. Probably for that reason it's popular as a lunch spot, and I think you should be prepared to wait behind a few people. There was a line of about 5 people outside, and we got in after waiting about 10 minutes. I ordered the chicken katsu curry (650 yen). The portion was huge, and I was surprised—this for 650 yen?? At other places this would definitely be a large size. The staff were pleasant too, and I was able to enjoy a good lunch.

Found in a back alley in Toyosu👀 It has that legendary-spot vibe. They said it was full, but since I'd come all that way, I waited outside. Curry rice set with a fried egg on top. The taste and value were just as expected👍 It's Japanese curry, but the spices really come through too! The tonkatsu set meal the customer after me got looked like even better value… I'd like to come back, but it's a shame smoking is allowed😭 It's way cheaper than average prices around here and tastes good too, but the place is small, so it seems bound to be packed at lunchtime.

My rating leans toward people who like this kind of thing. The shop's atmosphere and the food it serves are all dead-center Showa retro. The best part is that both the mains and the sides are home cooking. The default rice portion is on the big side, so if you're not confident, it's a good idea to ask before ordering. It seems the family takes turns running the shifts, and when it's a one-person operation it gets a bit backed up, but that's not what you come here for, so 5 stars. It's fine—at places like this, you eat with your heart. After all, Toyosu is nothing but clean, pricey lunches, and I can't relax. This is the one and only place like it in Toyosu. With that "itterasshai" as I leave, I can keep going through the afternoon!

The large-platter dishes during evening hours are delicious, whatever you eat.
