An eel restaurant that's the very picture of grandma's house. ・Unaju 3,000 yen ・Unaju (boxed) 3,100 yen ・Kabayaki 2,700 yen ・Eel liver soup 100 yen ・Medium rice +100 yen ・Large rice +200 yen You enter through a narrow entrance, pass a slightly dirty counter, and go up the stairs beyond it to the seats on the 2nd floor. There are only 2 tables, so you'll probably have to share a table when it's crowded. I went around 13:00 on a holiday, but only one group was eating, so I got in without any wait. Be careful: if you go right before last order, they may be sold out and you can't get in. The eel is plump and chewy. It might not suit people looking for fluffy, soft eel. The sauce is on the sweet side. The grandma who served us was very gentle, friendly, and warm, but the daughter(?) on the 1st floor has a slightly unapproachable vibe.

A homey restaurant run by a pleasant female owner (who took over from her late husband) and her family. You can enjoy unaju with a solid flavor, made carefully with lots of time and effort.

I had a really delicious unaju! There were only 2 tatami-seat tables on the 2nd floor, but it was a cozy Japanese-style room with a nostalgic atmosphere. The menu only had unaju and eel liver soup. (No alcohol either) But it's really simple, and since I came to eat eel, I liked not having to deliberate. The sweet-savory sauce and the toasty grilled aroma spread through my mouth, the flesh was fluffy, and the bones were barely noticeable! For the first time in a while, I got that jolt of "this is crazy delicious!" I really want everyone to try it!

Old-downtown-style eel eaten in a small tatami room on the 2nd floor. For weekend lunchtime, calling ahead to reserve is a must!

Takeout box 3100 yen An affordable and delicious eel restaurant I eat around at lots of places, but the eel here is the most delicious in Tokyo. Inside, there are 2 tables on the 2nd floor. For takeout, you order by phone and in about 20 minutes you can have freshly grilled unaju.
