十割そば にし田 is a restaurant specializing in 100% buckwheat soba in front of the gate of Kameido Tenjinja. Every day, we stone-mill our own flour and carefully handmake soba without any binding agents, adjusting to that day's temperature and humidity. We select high-quality unhulled buckwheat at its seasonal best, focusing on 「常陸秋そば」 for its excellent balance of aroma, sweetness, and smoothness going down. Our dipping broth is made daily with root kombu, kaeri dried sardines, kocha-yori dried fish, charcoal-roasted bonito flakes, mackerel flakes, and several other varieties of dried fish, combined with traditional soy sauce from Okuizumo and other ingredients. We aim for a deep yet clean flavor that enhances the soba's aroma and makes you want to drink every last drop. Every morning at Toyosu Market…

First time in a Japanese restaurant with menus for locals and foreigner as in photo. As one can see, the Japnese menu has 2 prices, a regular price and a discount "special price", and the English menu has only the regular price which is 10-13% more expensive than the special price in the Japanese menu. And I was given the English menu. There 2 ways to look at it. 1. Higher price for the nuisance of serving people with language barrier (and a few rude, uncultured foreigners); 2. Since foreigners pay 10% less than Japnese for things they buy while visiting Japan, it's only fair that they pay 10% more for food. I can see the sense both ways. Only the locals were also given small appetizers/pickles while I was not, which makes me a little envious. Some Google reviewers mentioned one can become a member easily to get the benefits of small side dishes. But no one in the restaurant told me about it (maybe membership is only for locals?) and I didn't ask due to the language barrier. :) Now, the food. I had Tenjin soba which is very good. Soba are thin and tasty in a thick, flavorful soup. Portion is a little small for me. However, there is the option to eat the soba but save the soup, in order to have it cooked with rice as porridge, for 200 yen extra. But I finished the soup with soba, so not an option there. All in all a good meal, but.. Follow up: Thank you for your prompt response. I was correct that one needs to know how to access your newsletter to get "member price". I don't suppose there is an English version? In any case I don't think you are obliged to have one anyway. There were 2 pieces of shrimp/chicken. They are delicious even though I don't know what they are. I trust that whatever you serve me is always high-class.

Great place! Very delicious soba. The chief is the owner and make main course right there. He does not speak much English but very friendly, showed us noodles making machine. Amazing tofu and eggplant dishes that I have never seen before. We stopped down there with friends the other night and had amazing dinner with very rare sake that Putin likes))) the owner gave nice discount for dinner as he recognized me)

I found truly delicious 100% buckwheat soba in Kameido. The first thing that impressed me was the beautifully presented 「そば刺し」. Its smooth texture going down and the intense soba aroma that unfolds as you chew are irresistible. Enjoying different flavors with 3 sauces (soy sauce・white sesame・miso) was a luxurious experience too. The soba topped with fresh yuba and a gleaming egg yolk was also superb. The gentle broth, rich yuba, and luscious egg come together so deliciously you want to drink every last drop. I wholeheartedly recommend it to anyone who wants to leisurely enjoy skillfully crafted soba in a calm setting. Next time, I'd love to try some à la carte dishes with drinks!
