View on GoogleA spice curry and gin shop right between Morishita Station and Kiyosumi-shirakawa Station. Inside, there are 5〜6 counter seats, with gin bottles packed across the counter. The slightly sticky counter was a bit concerning. There were 3 curries, so I ordered 巴がけ. The three were Okinawa soki green curry, beef tongue spice curry, and dal curry. The meat was simmered until incredibly tender, and the curries were delicious with a good spice presence. The heat was mild; I’d be happy if they had extra chili oil or something similar. One plate left me about eight-tenths full, so bigger eaters might want a large portion. Eating curry while enjoying drinks at night seems likely to be more satisfying than having just curry at lunchtime. The gin selection was extensive, so I’d like to come back at night.
View on GoogleI happened to pass by the shop and went in, drawn by the lovely aroma of spices. It was a little before 12, but they welcomed me, saying they were open. It’s a small shop with only 5 counter seats, seemingly best suited to visits by 1〜2 people. With rows of bottles and whole spices set out amid an old-fashioned atmosphere, it gave me the impression of “a shop focused on delicious curry and gin.” From the glass board at the entrance, I ordered **ソーキグリーンカレー(1,300円)**. While drinking water without ice, I enjoyed the aroma as the turmeric rice was plated. Their thoughtfulness in asking whether I wanted coriander was also◎. It took about 10 minutes to be served. The rice was firm, fragrant turmeric rice, and the green curry had an approachable flavor with noticeable dashi. The soki was fall-apart tender, with jiggly fat and a melting softness. Looking at the plate as a whole, the portion felt slightly small, but the delicious curry left me satisfied. I’d have been even happier with a little more curry sauce. I’d entered because of the spice aroma, but the flavor was highly satisfying. I recommend it when you want delicious curry, or if you’re a curry lover.
View on GoogleThis shop serves the spice curry(?) creative curry(?) you see so often lately. When I went, they had already finished service at the shop, but they said they had a stall in the shopping street’s event space during GW, serving the same curry, so I went there instead. 牛タンスパイスカレー(1000円)… It came in a somewhat small paper container. It looked sparse, but what would it taste like for 1000円? My expectations grew. Time to taste it… It wasn’t that spicy, so it was easy to eat. They might have used allspice or something; I couldn’t tell for sure, but there was a slight cooling sensation different from heat. The tongue had been cooked in a pressure cooker, but part of the pleasure of tongue is its firm, crunchy texture, so if they were going to make it floppy and soft, I might have preferred a cut that produces more broth…. The rice was Japanese rice, yellow turmeric rice. It wasn’t cooked particularly firm, just like regular rice. The impact was milder than I’d expected, so if it costs as much as 1000円, with the sparse appearance too, I’d have liked a little something added, such as herbs or seeds.
