亀戸梅屋敷 Kameido Ume Yashiki Gozu Tennô (Susanoo) and Inada-hime Depicted on the roof is the battle between 須佐之男 Susanoo, the Japanese storm god, and eight-tailed dragon 八岐大蛇 Yamata no Orochi. Susanoo created eight gates with vats of high-strength sake, intoxicating the beast, and then hacking it to pieces with his sword, 十束剣 Totsuka-no-Tsurugi. He saves 奇稲田姫 Kushinada-hime (whom he hides as a comb) and finds the legendary Kusanagi sword in the serpent's tail. The shopping center also has a 茅の輪 Chigaya no Wa [ring made of reeds] to fend off disease. There is also a photo cutout.
View on GoogleIt's supposed to be a tourist attraction , but the locals pay no mind to it. It's an imposing landmark very near the Kameido Station.
View on Googlesmall, but a nice place, easy access, good selection of souvenirs to take back.
