It was a Saturday and my husband and I wanted something relaxed but still felt like proper weekend food. He suggested Thai food and found this Thai restaurant on Google. We arrived at around 1pm and checked the menu board outside. Everything looked good, so we decided to go in. The restaurant has two floors. The first floor feels more like a bar or a space for solo diners. We were seated on the second floor, which has more tables for two people or groups. We really liked the authentic Thai atmosphere, it felt lively and fun. The waiter asked us to order via QR code. We liked that every dish had photos, so we knew what to expect. My husband ordered 牛すじグリーンカレー (Beef Tendon Green Curry) and two pieces of ガイ・トード(フライドチキン) (Thai Fried Chicken). I ordered パッタイ (Pad Thai) and one piece of ガイ・トード(フライドチキン) (Thai Fried Chicken). After clicking the order button, a happy picture of Thai brothers appeared on the screen, which made us smile. I noticed in the photo that the パッタイ had some もやし (Bean Sprouts) that looked a bit raw. Since I can’t eat raw food recently, I told the waiter after ordering that I wanted everything cooked well done. After ordering, we were each served a salad, soup, a small white liquid-looking dessert, and a glass of water. The salad was refreshing with a Thai-style dressing that was slightly spicy and sweet. The soup smelled amazing and tasted rich and comforting, it warmed me up immediately. The small white liquid dessert was not too sweet and tasted nice. I wasn’t sure if it was meant to be an appetizer or dessert, but it felt more like dessert to me, so I saved it until after finishing my main dishes. We also noticed that the toothpicks were very unique. They looked like thin bamboo, were strong, and even had a slight cinnamon-like scent. It felt like an authentic Thai product, which was very interesting. About 20 minutes after ordering, all the food arrived at once. My husband’s 牛すじグリーンカレー (Beef Tendon Green Curry) smelled incredible. The curry had several kinds of vegetables, and I especially liked the eggplant. The curry flavour was strong yet gentle, and spicy at the same time. There was a generous amount of beef tendon, not small pieces and not fatty, exactly what we love. The beef tendon, curry, and rice together were a perfect match, we couldn’t stop eating. My パッタイ (Pad Thai) was huge. If I had known the portion size, I would have asked for a half portion, as I don’t like wasting food. It came with two good-sized shrimp, which tasted good but weren’t very hot. After mixing everything together, the taste was nice, but I felt it could be stronger. I added a bit of sauce from the spice rack, which helped but changed the flavour slightly. It would have been much better if the dish was served hotter, as it felt a bit cooled down already. The ガイ・トード(フライドチキン) (Thai Fried Chicken) pieces were very big. The fried skin was completely different from regular 唐揚げ, very unique and extremely crispy. We could hear the crunch when we bit into it. Inside, the chicken was surprisingly juicy and full of flavour. The Thai sweet and spicy sauce match perfectly with the chicken. We instantly fell in love with this dish. We had a very satisfying Thai lunch here and were already discussing what to order next time before we even left. The ガイ・トード(フライドチキン) (Thai Fried Chicken) is an absolute must. I kept thinking about it for the rest of the day. This place is truly a hidden gem, and we were surprised we hadn’t discovered it earlier.
View on GoogleOne of the most delicious Pad Thai that I have had! I was so glad I've got to frequent Toyocho for the past couple of weeks and now know where I can get good, fresh Thai foods in Tokyo. Staffs were polite and still very friendly. Shout-outs especially to the chef - he looked intimidating at first but soon turned out so kind and humorous. He remembered my order of Pad Thai "chotto spicy" 😋
View on GoogleVery casual open store design with a friendly atmosphere. All the staff are very nice and the food is great. Best part is the drinks and food are very reasonably priced. On a back alley but we’ll worth the effort to find.
