A very authentic restaurant. We couldn't speak Japanese, but they were very patient in communicating with us. Payment could only be made in cash. We didn't even have card, but they kindly waited for me to withdraw the money and even gave us a small gift. It was definitely worth the experience.
View on GoogleThis was the most amazing food we've eaten during our 2 week trip to Japan. We're British so we didn't know what to order, we left ourselves in the hands of the owners who were so friendly and lovely. They served us two big plates of sashimi between 4 people, and also we had a lovely conversation with them via Google translate. They were so kind and friendly and the sashimi was delicious. I've never eaten anything like this before. Afterwards we took a photo with the owners, it was a really special experience.
View on GoogleThe dinner we had at Furuya not only filled our bellies but also our souls. It is a family-run business and they were so welcoming, kind and funny. Although we don't speak any Japanese, they did their absolute best to communicate with us. I wish I could speak Japanese just to be able to chat with them. Everything we ate was delicious, with a special shout-out to the sashimi plate (we'll remember the spicy pickled sashimi for years to come) and the garlic butter mushroom. It is very special to experience this level of hospitality in a big city such as Tokyo which made it an unforgettable night for us.
View on GoogleThis is our second visit to this beautiful little family-run restaurant - Kappo Furuya. No menu, just ask chef what's available. Order what you feel like. Outstanding sashimi, great vegetarian suggestion (tofu hotpot anyone?), a lovely collection of unique pottery (choose your own sake cup). So intimate and welcoming. Clearly popular with the locals - always a good sign.
View on GoogleLove the place! The food is amazing! The owner is really nice and kind. :-) would recommend it to you all. (they only understand Japanese, it’s may hard for people who don’t understand Japanese. But they will try their best to communicate with you!)
