Lunch on this day was near my home in Nishi-Oojima. I had a slight hangover from the drinking party the day before. I ordered Kamo Seiro (soba with hot duck dipping broth). First, the soba. It doesn't do anything excessive. The aroma, firmness, and smoothness going down the throat are all subdued, making it clear that they are "not overdoing it." With the very first bite, I could quietly convince myself that this was the right choice for today! It was delicious! The restaurant has table seating as well as counter seating, making it easy to drop by even alone! I had the Ten Zaru (1000 yen). The tempura consisted of shrimp, eggplant, green bell pepper, and maitake mushrooms. A very ordinary neighborhood soba shop. But this extreme ordinariness is what's good about it.

This isn't one of those pretentious, fussy soba shops. It feels like an old-school restaurant, and I'm glad the dishes were prepared following proper steps.
