A wonderful place to take toddlers and young children
View on GoogleNice to have traditional Japanese living style! No fees for entrance and near from station.
View on GoogleI often ride the cycling road, and this place is located east of Nishigawara Park, where I sometimes take a break, along the road running beside the Tama River. It might be the smallest of the old folk houses I've visited so far. The layout is different from other old folk houses, so it's interesting to compare. The irori hearth was covered, but I enjoyed the view from the spot where the master of the house would sit, feeling like I was the owner. Outside, yakatabune boats and such that were used for recreation on the Tama River are also on display. The old folk houses I've visited before were managed by staff from the Silver Human Resources Center, but here it was a young female staff member. If there were folk tools or farming tools used by farmers, you could imagine that era, but unfortunately…… there weren't any.
View on GoogleAn old folk house in a residential area. Admission is free. It's not big, but the atmosphere feels like you've traveled back in time, so you can relax. You can sit and rest on the engawa veranda, and families can play in the garden. Plum blossoms were blooming in the garden, and they were beautiful.
View on GoogleApparently it's also called "Muikara Minkaen." Old buildings are preserved here. Currently there are two buildings on the grounds, the Former Arai Family Residence and the Former Takagi Family Nagayamon gate, and old yakatabune boats, fishing boats, and the like are also on display. The grounds aren't big, but there's a pond with ducks swimming in it, making it a place where you can relax leisurely. Admission is free.
