We all know what Kamameshi is like, but very few restaurants serve it. Rokuzaemon is one of such places. I recommend international guests to stop by and enjoy the depth of Kamameshi here 🙂

Great food in an old converted farmhouse. Unfortunately, only zashiki seating options which, while authentic, were a little bit hard on some of our legs. 😁

The 釜めし was delicious. I also ordered 串盛り, but it wasn't arriving, so I asked and found out the order had been missed. They said they'd start grilling it now, but I was nearly done with the 釜めし, so I canceled it and didn't get to eat it. It was very disappointing, especially since the staff had checked both sides of the order sheet and ticked it off.

A place with delicious 釜めし. The tatami seating makes it easy to bring children. The broth flavor comes through, and my child enjoyed it too. 鮭高菜めし is my favorite!

Visited for dinner on a Saturday in November 2021. This is a restaurant specializing in 釜めし and grilled skewers. They only start cooking the 釜めし after you order, so it takes time. It's best to wait patiently while enjoying a grilled-skewer set and some alcohol. There's quite a long wait outside, so it's best to put your name down and wait patiently while shopping nearby or watching TV in your car. That day, I had 五目釜めし and various grilled-skewer sets. The 釜めし is lightly seasoned, seems good for you, and is delicious. The grilled skewers, on the other hand, are well salted and go nicely with both alcohol and 釜めし. If you're hosting foreign guests and can't decide on Japanese food other than sushi, I think this is a good choice. Thank you for the meal.
