A ramen shop called Jiro-kei. It is addictive, characterized by its pork bone-based soup, thick noodles, mountains of vegetables, thick chashu pork, and large amounts of garlic. The pork chashu is tender and tasty. The soup is as punchy as these thick noodles, and you can enjoy the unhealthy fun with a sense of immorality.

View on GoogleThis makes me want to become a regular. Topped it with ginger. • The soup is a tonkotsu shoyu base, not too greasy, with a sharp shoyu edge that makes it easy to eat. • The noodles are on the thick side with a chewy, hearty texture. • The chashu (pork) has a great reputation; much of it is thick-cut and fall-apart tender, at the level people call "god-tier pork." You can order on a touch-panel ticket machine, so many people say it's easy to walk into even for Jiro-style beginners or women. The staff are kind too.
View on GoogleEven though I'm a guy, I ordered the Ladies' Ramen. Jiro-style usually means big portions, which makes me a bit wary, but this has fewer noodles, and the boiled quail eggs and heart-shaped nori are a nice touch. The soup is full of pork umami, with a sharp shoyu edge and a punchy flavor. The soup clings well to the chewy, thick "washiwashi" noodles. The chashu is thick and tender too, and it was really satisfying. The atmosphere with the handsome young guy and the cute staff member is bright, making it an easy shop to walk into even if it's your first time trying Jiro-style Recommended for those who want to enjoy hearty ramen in a lighter way. I'd like to go again next time I'm in Kokubunji.
