ラー麺ずんどう屋 was born on April 4, 2002 in Himeji City, Hyogo Prefecture. It's known for its rich soup made from a slowly simmered tonkotsu broth with added back fat. We're also particular about our house-made noodles, carefully crafted using high-quality wheat.

A new ramen shop in Kodaira, which serves the signature ramen of Hiroshima. Note that there are coupons until June 30th, 2024.

Tasty ramen, staff were friendly and helped in very clear English when we didn't understand some kanji in the menu. Convenient location, pretty quiet, lots of parking.

2026.07 Went to Zundoya Kodaira. It's along Ome Kaido, so I knew it existed every time I drove past, but I was intimidated by the "Himeji Rich Tonkotsu" sign and never quite made it in. But the "Tanrei (light) Tonkotsu" I noticed when I happened to drop in was tastier than I imagined, and though with gaps in between, I ended up going 4 times. ◆Tanrei Tonkotsu ×2 DAY-1 was the Tanrei Shoyu Butter Corn (¥980). First I sip the soup, and the umami of the clear tonkotsu soup is richer than I imagined—top-notch stuff that shows how carefully it's prepared. The pairing with butter corn is perfect too, such a perfect match I want to pat myself on the back for choosing it. The noodles are also top-notch, hard to believe for a chain, and they taste properly delicious on their own, soaked in the soup, or with the corn. DAY-2 was the Tanrei Shio Butter Corn (¥980). The clear tonkotsu soup is the same as DAY-1. I'd assumed shio would be less impactful than shoyu, but it's a well-thought-out recipe with surprisingly interesting umami. And once again the pairing of butter corn and tanrei tonkotsu soup was wonderful, so it's officially the core of my visits. ◆Fried Rice + 2 Kinds of Gyoza DAY-3 was rice dishes. I can already hear the scolding: "What happened to the core of your visits? After tanrei tonkotsu, isn't it supposed to be the rich tonkotsu ramen!?" But on DAY-2 the person next to me muttered "Damn, that's good," and it got to me, so I switched direction to rice & gyoza. The fried rice is the moist-yet-fluffy type with a great aroma, more than convincing quality. The portion is a bit small for a full size, but the taste was excellent. Gyoza 1 that I paired with it was the pan-fried gyoza (¥350). Evenly browned with no patchy spots, a careful finish where you can taste the umami of both the skin and the filling. And what surprised me was Gyoza 2, "Boiled Gyoza (¥400)". The visual with a huge amount of grated ginger on the side is surprising, but beyond that, it's so overwhelmingly delicious it nearly knocks you backward. The thick skin is chewy, the filling is juicy, and paired with ginger soy sauce it's an incredible deliciousness I'd never experienced. Seriously, super delicious boiled gyoza—I could probably wolf down about 3 plates in one go. ◆Vegetable Ramen (¥1000) + Garlic Fried Rice (Small) (¥500) DAY-4 was the rich tonkotsu ramen, but I wanted to offset the heaviness of "rich," so I picked the vegetable topping. Buuut, the soup turned out to be an unexpectedly middle-of-the-road umami soup that didn't feel heavy at all and just spread pure umami. The sign outside says "Rich Tonkotsu," but it gives the impression of a delicious "Umami Tonkotsu." The vegetables are boiled rather than stir-fried, but they bring out a nice sweetness, and the chashu has a good balance of fat and lean—I'd call it a signature menu item with careful prep and finishing. The garlic fried rice is fairly dark in color overall, with 2 slices of burnt garlic on top. The garlic aroma comes through everywhere, and the stir-frying is perfect, so it's as delicious as expected. Oh, the moment I opened the front door after getting home, I got blasted in the face with Shoshugen, so I'm torn about eating it at lunch, but at night it's an absolute recommendation. I think with chain restaurants, satisfaction is determined by the factory prep and the staff's skill and spirit, but at this shop the kitchen staff, manager included, are highly skilled, and it's truly satisfying. I think "Rich Tonkotsu" is really "Umami Tonkotsu," the tanrei tonkotsu has plenty of umami too, and the boiled gyoza is one-of-a-kind and super delicious. It's decided: I'll be coming regularly.
