A true neighborhood find for lovers of Sichuan cuisine. The lunch tantanmen, priced at just ¥750, is almost unbelievable in today’s market. Yet it doesn’t feel like a compromise — quite the opposite. The broth is rich and pleasantly nutty, with a gentle heat that lingers without overpowering. The noodles have a satisfying bite, and the overall balance feels thoughtful rather than rushed. For this price point, the quality easily exceeds expectations. The value proposition alone makes it worth returning. I couldn’t help but think how nicely a fresh cilantro topping would elevate the bowl even further — that bright herbal lift would pair beautifully with the sesame and spice. If that option ever appears, I’ll be first in line to try it. The atmosphere is simple and unfussy, focused on the food. The owner seems impressively multilingual, moving comfortably between Japanese, Chinese, and English, which adds an understated international touch to the experience. One important note: payment is cash only, so plan accordingly. A small detail — but one worth remembering before you go.

View on GoogleExcellent Chinese food. Staff speak Japanese and mandarin. No English menu. Highly recommend!
View on GoogleI went to Torazo, which is located a short walk from Komagome Station. The lunch menu is simple, consisting of Sichuan Tantanmen, cold Tantanmen, meat wontons, meat rice, and rice. Expecting the numbing sensation of Sichuan Tantanmen, I ordered the Sichuan Tantanmen for 750 yen and a large serving for 100 yen. The Sichuan Tantanmen that was served had a pretty good volume. First, when I took a sip of the soup, it was easy to eat with the refreshing numbing sensation of Sichuan pepper and just the right amount of spiciness. The noodles were curly noodles with a high water content. The large serving of noodles was more than I imagined, and a regular serving would have been satisfying enough. I wanted to eat rice with the remaining soup, but I was already full, so I'll do that next time.
View on GoogleIt was delicious. It's tantanmen from a local Chinese eatery, but the punch of sesame and minced meat is strong. The noodles were average, but the soup was delicious. It seems to be run by a family, so you can eat without feeling rushed. It's not a trendy, self-conscious shop, so it feels familiar. I hope this shop continues for a long time.
