I was pleasantly surprised. I don’t usually go to cash only places, but the food here turned out to be worth it. We both had the “American” steak with onions and bacon. I had it medium well, and it was perfectly tender and seasoned, and tasty. No sauce needed because it was properly cooked. Had the carpaccio for an appetizer and loved it too.

View on GoogleWhile looking for lunch, I ended up walking right through LaLa Garden and spotted a 'Steak' flag. It seemed to be exactly opening time, so I went in. The stairs right away were surprising, but it looks like they use the changes in floor level so neighboring diners don't bother you even in the narrow space. Texas steak 300g with the lunch set came to 4,220円, making it a bit of a splurge, but judging by the restaurant's name, I expected a lean steak, so bigger should be better. The soup and salad served first were delicious and reasonably substantial, raising my expectations for the steak. The Texas steak arrived, impressively covering the iron plate. While it was still sizzling, I melted the butter, cut it into big pieces, and dug in. A lovely rare doneness, just as requested. That satisfying 'I'm eating meat' chew was exactly what you'd expect from an unmarbled ribeye. Getting to wolf down the best of lean meat with butter and pepper is irresistible. Of course it went with rice, and apparently they offer 'extra rice' at lunch, so I should have asked. It definitely wasn't going to be enough. I also tried a little of the raw garlic and Tabasco on the table, and the 300g was gone in no time. This is the kind of steak I want to eat. I'd love them to move near my home.
View on GoogleA steak restaurant reached by walking to the end of LaLa Garden and going a little to the right along the street. I'd been curious about it for a while and visited for the first time. True to the name WOOD HOUSE, the interior uses lots of wood and has a very nice atmosphere. It is narrow, though, with just 2 tables for 4 and 2 counter seats. There were stairs going up and down, so there might be seating on other floors too. I ordered Texas steak 200g and the lunch set. They were offering extra rice, so I asked for more. The soup and salad came first. The soup had a simple flavor that didn't seem to rely on umami seasoning. The salad had a little too much dressing. Then came the steak and rice. Getting extra rice was the right choice. Come to think of it, they hadn't asked how I wanted the steak cooked, but it was somewhere between medium and medium rare. There was no sauce, and it seemed seasoned with salt and pepper. I like mild seasoning, so eaten with rice, the saltiness was just right. My wife used the condiments on the table. The meat was tender and delicious. There was a little sinew, but it didn't bother me much. Steak is expensive, so I can only have it occasionally, but it really is satisfying to eat. It makes me glad I splurged. Maybe I'll try 300g next time.
View on GoogleMy recent favorite hamburg steak & steak restaurant closed, so I decided to explore somewhere new and visited this place I'd been curious about for a while. ・Grand Canyon steak 1640円 (tax included) ・Rice 150g 230円 (tax included) Apparently this is a set of hamburg steak and original steak. Hmm~, the hamburg steak seemed hand-kneaded, but,, pretty ordinary. The steak was ordinary too. Or rather, without sauce, the flavor was weak. That was disappointing. Also, the older man serving me was brusque, so although I wanted to ask various questions about the menu before ordering, I gave up. I was the only customer inside, too. I may be extra critical because I'm comparing it with the place I used to visit often, but for this price, I'd probably go elsewhere. I do like the atmosphere, though.
