Found this restaurant while wandering through the narrow streets in Akabane. The food was fine, low-cost with friendly service & full of locals eating & drinking beer.

・Draft beer and gyoza ・Chukadon ------------------ I'd been curious about this Chinese restaurant in Ichibangai by Akabane Station's east exit, so since I had business in Akabane today, I decided to stop by at lunchtime. When I entered after 10 on a day off, a few customers were drinking. I took an empty seat and thought the atmosphere somehow resembled Hidakaya. Then I noticed 'Hidakaya Group' written on the condiments and understood. I'd expected an authentic Chinese restaurant, but it was part of a chain. First I ordered draft beer and gyoza. The draft beer arrived shortly, with a thin layer of water droplets on the outside of the glass, looking ice-cold. Taking a gulp, the refreshing sensation sliding down my throat spread through my body, switching me fully into day-off mode. Then the freshly cooked gyoza arrived. Their surfaces were nicely browned, and lifting one with chopsticks gave a crisp sensation. With a bite, meat juices and the sweetness of vegetables burst out; needless to say, they paired perfectly with the beer. Following that flow, I ended up ordering another draft beer. I'd only intended a light drink, but before I knew it, I was feeling thoroughly happy. With my stomach and spirits comfortably satisfied, I finally ordered the main event: chukadon. When it arrived a little later, it looked clearly substantial, with an appetizing aroma rising alongside the steam. The white rice was generously topped with pork, shrimp, napa cabbage, wood ear mushrooms, quail eggs, and other ingredients, all enveloped in a thick sauce. Scooping it up with the spoon, gentle saltiness and umami gradually spread, with a somehow nostalgic flavor. It didn't have a particularly striking personality, but that made it comforting to eat—a classic example of neighborhood Chinese cooking. The individual textures were enjoyable too: crisp napa cabbage, springy shrimp, and crunchy wood ear mushrooms mingled in exquisite balance. The thick sauce clung firmly to the rice, and satisfaction built with every bite. The warm chukadon slowly sank into my beer-relaxed body, wrapping me in an indescribable happiness. An unpretentious atmosphere and food you can enjoy without any fuss. Miraiken was a place full of that just-right feeling. Drop in casually on a day-off morning, start with beer and gyoza, and finish with chukadon. Once you try this sequence, it might become a habit. I finished every bite and sip—thank you for the meal.
