Local restaurant. Food tasted alright, cutlet was made to order, but lack the crispy wrapping layer and not juicy enough. However, portion was very generous for the price, just ¥900 for a set of pork cutlet with rice and pork miso soup. As a tourist, I may wanna try something different, but definitely will go again and again if I am a local.

View on GoogleA long-established tonkatsu restaurant near the north exit of Higashi-Jujo Station, with a tucked-away feel that makes it easy to walk right past. With its old-fashioned appearance, I honestly wasn't expecting much before going in, but it completely overturned my expectations in the best way—a truly wonderful restaurant! Despite the affordable 900円 price, the pork loin tonkatsu set comes with an extra-large cutlet, hearty tonjiru packed with cabbage and pork, and a very satisfying serving of rice. The value is astonishing. The coating is thin and crispy, letting you fully enjoy the meat's natural flavor. Being able to compare the taste with the rock salt and sauce on the table is another nice touch. I was moved that they offer this quality at this price in this day and age. I can definitely recommend this place wholeheartedly!
View on GoogleI suddenly felt like tonkatsu, so I got off along the way to visit this place that came up on Google Maps. The walk from the station is a bit retro 😆 The quiet restaurant is run by a refined couple and their mother (probably). The aroma of high-quality lard reaches your nose, followed by the flavor of tender, pepper-seasoned meat spreading through your mouth. This taste at this price. And this quantity! Is this a student neighborhood? There are also many young people dining alone for dinner. The rice and tonjiru in the set are huge too, which made quite an impression on this guy in his 50s.
View on GoogleI usually go to Otsuka, so today I came to Higashi-Jujo, perhaps its sister restaurant? The noren curtain wasn't out, but the restaurant seemed to be open. Since I walked there, I started with a bottled beer and potato salad to wet my throat. For my meal, I had the tonkatsu set.
